Ramada Hotels in Suzhou

Arrived past 2pm the rooms were not ready. So we went for lunch at the hotel noddle place. After lunch, past 3 pm only one room was ready. The room I had was suppose to be non smoking but someone smoked in the room and it lingered in the bed; pillow etc. we couldn’t change it as hotel was fully booked. So I had to suck it up. Maybe the hotel should impose a cleaning and deodorizer fee as a penalty or as a deterrent for people who smoke in a non-smoking rooms. The room heating didn’t keep the room warm. The explanation was the insulation is poor and they gave me a portable heater. The other room had carpet ( mine has floor cold floorboards) and there were no cigarette stench and it was warm. So my advise is to get a room with carpet. Breakfast room was lovely, the breakfast was okay, however you won’t get any staff attention. The saving grace was the Panmen Garden which you should visit both day and night. It was great because it’s not busy as everyone else goes to the Humble administrator garden. So there are ample photo opportunities without swarms of tourist. However the promised Panmen scenic area tour with the hotel is no longer available. The hotel should not list it as an experience you can have when you book and room. Overall it’s a beautiful hotel with unique character due to it history and many dignitaries stay here. Being attached to Panmen garden was a plus. You will need to take a DiDi for Suzhou other attractions. Free Hanfu experience was good as my daughter got to utilized it. We also dined at the 4th floor Italian restaurant which serves very good Italian food. Hotel staff are helpful. Wi-Fi is non existent due to full capacity of the hotel and the bandwidth is just insufficient to support the load and it also depends where your room is situated.

Good location with a nice and modern shopping mall just a traffic light away. Checkin staff did not seem to be very well trained, however polite. Added breakfast for one day but only registered 1 guest despite 2 guests stayed in the room. When we asked advise at concierge if there was any shops selling photography items, reply was “ sorry I’m not local”… Would like to express our gratitude to concierge staff Peter Zhang and room attendant Li Lingyu. Peter always has a genuine smile on his face and helped with our parcel delivery reached destination smoothly. Ms Li is kind and considerate, noted we like to drink coffee, made effort to place a Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Lastly, we’d like to appreciate hotel management for making my husband’s birthday even more special by presenting a cake and a card in the room. Would consider to stay again if we go back to Suzhou.

The room is large and has a balcony. I can't look closely, but I can see that many facilities are old and not well maintained, including the shower, which is faded and leaking. Parking is convenient The breakfast is average, which is different from the old five-star hotels. Service 4.5, 0.5 is a deduction for room service. I asked for paper towels twice but didn't get them, so I had to go to the front desk to get them myself. The front desk service is very good, giving people a homely feeling. In general, I won't come again next time.

Check-in was efficient. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was excellent. Moreover, we had a good selection of English language television channels to watch. Access to public transport is easy, as the subway station is very close, and there are share bicycles in the vicinity. My only complaint about the hotel was the duvet. Despite the air conditioning, it felt too hot with the duvet on. Staff should have put on summer duvets. Over all, however, we had a very good experience and recommend the Hilton.

We rented a suite that had the tub on the deck. The room was very spacious and modern. I really enjoyed the tub, and the view was amazing. The room was one of the nices hotel rooms I have stayed in China. The food in the restaurant was not great. We ordered a burger that was not hamburger. I am not sure what it was, but it was strange (It was hard meat that tasted like rubber). We thought the club sandwich was also less than appealing and the pizza was undercooked. The french fries and spring rolls were good. The dinner buffet was pretty decimated by the time we got to it. The only saving grace was having a hot pot on the table, which was really good. The hot spring resort is next door and really great. It costs around 200 RMB per person to go there and they provide a robe, slippers and lockers. The hotel is off the beaten path with nothing around, but I did not mind this. It is very peaceful with good views. Our son enjoyed the hotel and what it offered. I would stay there again for a weekend get away, but probably go somewhere else for food. That is difficult given the location.
