The Stiltz is a delightful and luxurious hotel on the outskirts of Namibia's premier seaside town, Swakopmund. Well-appointed rooms are arranged like independent, hovering bungalows connected by elevated walkways a few meters above the ground. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, equipped with a fridge, minibar, complimentary coffee & tea, and reliable wifi. It's not absolute luxury, but it's certainly heading in that direction. Breakfast, served in a larger pavilion, is lavish and includes made-to-order eggs (including bacon), cheeses, cold cuts, jams, fruit salad, yogurt, American pancakes, pastries, various juices, and more. From The Stiltz, it's a pleasant 10-15 minute stroll to the town center and/or the beach.

A beautiful place to stay - beautiful bungalows on stilts, spacious, well equipped, comfy and immaculately clean. Views of the sea, the desert, flamingoes and wandering camels. The staff are enormously welcoming, especially Elsie who did everything in her power (which was quite a lot!) to help me locate and retrieve the suitcase which didn’t take the same flight that I did. Thoroughly recommended!!

This was our second hotel on a 31 day return trip to Namibia. I always try to give honest and open reviews, telling it ‘as it is’ giving positive and negative based on what we actually experienced. We stayed here in mid-September during a rather breezy cold snap in Swakopmund, although having stayed in Swakopmund at a different time last year, I think it’s always cold here! We had stayed at the sister hotel, Desert Breeze previously and were hoping for a similar experience but nearer the sea. We got the latter, but the accommodation lacked some of the good things that their other hotel had. We recognise that this was the original hotel and therefore was a little older than Desert Breeze but there are some things that could be improved to get it up to a relatively similar standard.
When we arrived the shower didn’t drain properly and the stable door to the balcony was coming off its hinges - this is stuff that should be checked and dealt with between clients. Nevertheless, the maintenance team were onto the problems immediately and by the time we got back from dinner on the first evening it had all been sorted (although the balcony door was never right).
The other thing we missed was a fireplace - ok, probably not ideal in a timber structure but the only form of heating was a small (and I mean small) fan heater and it looked like another heater had been removed from the wall and had not been replaced! There was also a draught whistling through the stable door to the balcony and no curtain to stop it.
Unlike their sister hotel, socket accessibility is appalling. There are no accessible sockets of any kind near the bedside and they have even put up signs asking people not to pull the bedside lamps out to get to the sockets. The only sockets are right over the other side of the room near the fridge, but they do offer the European round 2-pin, South African round 3-pin and multi sockets too. This is something which also needs improving. Breakfast was just as good here as at Desert Breeze, which was good, home-cooked fayre and the other benefit was being within walking distance of a number of reasonable restaurants including Tiger Reef and the Old Steamer buffet place at the German resort next door. You can also walk to the Tug but you’d probably need to drive to some of the others in town including the Ocean Cellar. The car park is very small and only squeezes in about 6 of the standard Toyota 4x4 hire cars - there is parking along the side of the road though as it is quite wide and you’re at the end of road which just goes to the paintball place. Staff were friendly and if you get the very far end cabins then the view is fantastic - you really can’t beat it over-looking the mouth of the Swakop river with the flamingoes and occasional camel herd. Wifi is available in the room, but they have repeaters which serve a number of cabins so it’s not the best, but it’s way better than some other places we stayed at. You get a better signal in the big

Amazing place! Love the fact that the huts are on stilts, the hand carved wood furniture, all the little wood details (clothes hangers, toilet paper holder etc) and just being so close to nature. Everyone is super friendly and the morning breakfast spread which includes made to order eggs is delicious. Staff is super friendly and overall, a unique experience that we would highly recommend

A great mid level hotel, within walking distance of the centre of Swakopmund (15 minutes). Something different, as it is all on stilts (hence the name), with lovely staff and set overlooking the beach / sea and the local flamingos. The rooms are large, ours had 2 bedrooms, one with 2 single beds and the other with a double, and a bathroom with shower. Towels are provided, as is shower gel. There is a mini fridge in the main bedroom, which also functions as a living room. There is a small balcony. Breakfast is included, and is in a large communal area.

This is a great mid tier hotel within walking distance of the centre and the Strand Hotel restaurants. The hotel is built on stilts, overlooking the sea / beach and the local flamingos. Our room was large, with 2 bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a double. There was a large bathroom with a shower. Towels and shower gel are provided. The main bedroom also functions as a living room with a sofa, chairs, and a fridge (with honesty policy). The staff are very friendly. Reception closes at 7pm. There is a night guard who looks after the car park. Breakfast is included and is in a large communal room. There is a cold buffet, but eggs and bacon can be ordered.
