"I’ll start off with the positives: beds and bathroom was clean and they gave us complimentary breakfast for all the hassles caused during our stay. I can’t say whether the breakfast is worth it as I’m not sure how much it costs. Nice view from apartment. Now for the bad, and there’s a lot…Entrance gate was broken and had to be manually pushed. We were pestered by some beggars outside the property while parked inside the parking. The exit is so narrow and difficult with a bakkie. On check in at 15:20 we were met with confusion, as our rooms (2 bedroom and studio) had been given to someone else on a tour group who they couldn’t contact supposedly. After a lot of back and forth, they decided to give us a 3 bedroom apartment and another room. By this point we already feel uncomfortable with this place. The 3 bedroom apartment was run down. The apartment itself is quite nice layout and has a lot of potential. We noticed missing light fittings, broken shower door, loose taps, musty/damp bathroom, fridge smelled terrible, TV not working, the toilet upstairs continually leaked water. I mentioned these issues to the lady that checked us in and all she could say is that they don’t have another room to put us in. To be honest, we didn’t feel comfortable/safe in this apartment but couldn’t put a finger on it. To add the cherry to the top, our vehicle was smash and grabbed in the parking lot! Despite there being a security guard and cameras. Absolutely unsafe. After looking at security footage, looks like the guy walked around freely in the parking area (parking area isn’t that large). According to the police, the same thing happened at this establishment a few weeks ago. Worst possible end to our first trip to Namibia. We left Swakop with a bad taste."

"This hotel is very nice, very well located with an awesome breakfast. I would just want to give an advice to all tourists: Don’t leave your wallet in the room! We made that mistake on our last day when going to the breakfast and realized few hours later on the road that we were missing quite a lot of money. The theft was done in a very “discrete” way.. not all the money was taken so that we didn’t t realize immediately the missing money. Only the bank notes with high amounts were taken. So be careful! Otherwise we met nice persons at the reception who helped us to book services"

"I stayed here in April, 2025 and can't speak highly enough of the location, rooms and staff. The beds were exceptionally comfortable; the ensuite spotlessly clean; the grounds beautifully maintained and the staff friendly, especially helpful, and professional. Try the in-house massage. Lots of effort gone into making the massage "hut" as cosy and relaxing as possible. The location was great: just a short walk to the shops and a huge range of restaurants to suit all tastes. Laundry - drop a bag into reception and it comes back, all clean and neatly folded in no time at all. Reasonably priced. I highly recommend this little guesthouse."

"This was one of the most disappointing Airbnb experiences we’ve had after staying in accommodations all over the world. The apartment is approximately 500 sq. ft., constructed of concrete with single-pane windows, and the only provided heat is a small wall panel heater that is far too small to adequately warm the space. We ended up buying our own portable electric heater just to keep the apartment around 65°F. The hot water was equally inadequate. After one normal shower, the hot water was exhausted, and even two hours later it had still not recovered. In practice, the apartment only provides enough hot water for one shower every 6–8 hours. The bigger issue, however, is the electricity. The apartment operates on a prepaid power meter, something that was never adequately disclosed. We were instructed to notify management when the remaining credit dropped below 5 kWh. When we did, we were told we could either pay for more electricity ourselves or go without. After explaining that electricity is a basic utility that should be included in an $80-per-night rental, management reluctantly added a small amount of credit—barely enough for another day. The following day, when the meter again approached zero, they refused to help unless we purchased additional electricity ourselves. Faced with the prospect of spending our final night with no heat, no lights, no hot water, and no refrigerator, we had no choice but to pay. The cost involved was small. The principle was enormous. Holding paying guests responsible for essential utilities after they’ve checked in is simply unacceptable. We’ve stayed in countless hotels and Airbnbs across the world and have never encountered a host who effectively held basic services hostage over a few dollars’ worth of electricity. “Until the heating, hot water, and electricity policies are fundamentally changed, we cannot recommend staying here.” Their 1–2 kWh per day claim is absurd for a 500 sq ft cold concrete apartment. Basic scale: Their wall heater alone: 425 watts × 24 hrs = 10.2 kWh/day Your portable heater: 1,000–1,500 watts × 8 hrs = 8–12 kWh/day If it ran near-continuously: 24–36 kWh/day Normal apartment usage estimate in your situation: No heat, very light use: 4–8 kWh/day With hot water, fridge, lights, kettle, Wi-Fi, TV: 6–12 kWh/day With electric heat in 50°F weather, concrete, poor insulation: likely 15–35+ kWh/day Hot water alone can easily use 2–6 kWh per shower cycle, depending on the unit. Management claimed normal usage for this apartment is only 1–2 kWh per day. That is not remotely realistic. The provided wall heater alone would use over 10 kWh in 24 hours, and that heater still cannot adequately warm the apartment. Add hot water, refrigerator, lights, kettle, cooking, Wi-Fi and basic living, and realistic usage is many times higher—especially in a cold concrete apartment with single-pane windows."

"The Organic Guest house is well furnished, clean, with helpful staff. The rooms were spacious and clean and private. Only stayed one night but would recommend. Only 10mins walk into the town centre and jetty. My only disappointment was breakfast which felt a little limited with the staff not particularly attentive at that time eg we were told there were pastries on the other dining area when we’d already finished (there were none left on our side). Overall very happy to recommend"

"We had a great time at Gecko Ridge near Swakop. The lodge is about 15 minutes from Swakop, which makes it nice and peaceful! Our room was clean and spacious with all the amenities you could possibly need (including wifi that actually reaches your room unlike many other places we stayed), the staff were really helpful and friendly. Zandre, the owner was very kind and friendly, and the staff can help you with booking activities and tours if you haven't already done it. We really enjoyed the restaurant there too, and the new pool was awesome! I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for somewhere peaceful. It's a very easy drive from Swakop or Walvis Bay to stay at Gecko Ridge. And we loved all the gecko decorations around reception and in the rooms."

"Make sure you ask for an outside facing room. Most rooms face inwards towards each other and the corridor. You can hear everything in the coutmrttards and corridors due to the layout and magnified acoustics. Ear plugs a must. Beds ok, pillow fine. Day 1, no toiletries or hot drinks. Day 2 no hot drinks. Hairdryer but no mirror other than in bathroom. Room reset but floor not cleaned as still sand everywhere. Breakfast was brilliant"

"Nice guesthouse, a little outside the center (5 minutes by car and about 25 minutes on foot). The rooms are small, but very well equipped (desk, wardrobe, coffee, tea and everything needed for washing). There are several very comfortable common spaces such as internal and external lounges and a beautiful table for lunch/dinner on a terrace. There is also parking and guard. The girls who run the guesthouse are very kind and helpful. Good breakfast."
