Took my mother to Afternoon Tea this afternoon. First time at the Tinto Hotel. The decor was lovely, very country house style. Staff were friendly and attentive. I have had a few afternoon teas at various hotel and I would describe the Tinto Hotel’s as nice but basic. The sandwiches were tasty. Lovely fresh bread cut into large finger slices of egg mayonnaise, tuna mayonnaise, cheese and onion and ham and cheese. Accompanied by a small sausage roll and scones, cream and jam (some kind of cherry jam?) Also some tray bake basic style cakes of caramel shortbread, tiffin, chocolate Rice Krispie slice and a nice shortbread custard biscuit. The food was lovely and tasty however as my mum said, ‘it would be nice if we had a slice of cake’ such as a Victoria sponge or fairy cake. Other Afternoon Teas I have been to had a slice of quiche or savoury pastry. I was a nice afternoon but I won’t be rushing back for their Afternoon Tea deal.
