Hostel was in a good location minutes walk away from Taipei Main, but the location was the only good thing about this hostel. With a name like York Design Hotel, you think you'd be expecting a pretty well designed and up kept place but cleanliness and state of the hostel left much to be desired.
For those considering a single room with shared bathroom facilities - do yourself a favour and choose another hotel. Rooms are located on B1 of the building. Common area was nice, and the room was a decent size but with zero to no soundproofing. I was unlucky to have a neighbour that snored extremely loudly, and barely managed to sleep. You can hear TV noises, sneezes, people walking along the corridor, snoring through the night. Room AC was also old and dusty, and had perpetually blinking red lights. Unless you enjoy restless sleep, please choose somewhere else cause you're not getting a good night's rest here.
On to toilet facilities and amenities, the only other good thing was that they provided a towel. But the shared toilet facilities were in an abysmal state. The shower cubicles were extremely tiny, almost no room to move with a very low ceiling, and poorly maintained. There was black mold/stains on the corner of the shower cubicles. Sinks also had blackened stains, and there were drain flies all around the toilet (see photos).
Thank goodness I was only here for one night. This is perhaps one of the worst or the worst accommodation I've had the displeasure of staying in. I will never return. Avoid this like the plague.
