We stopped here for lunch when we were driving through Shibu Pass from Kusatsu, Gunma and heading to Nagano. It's interesting that the hotel itself has a border, which marks Gunma Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture. There are other buildings and shrines with prefectural borders like this, but I don't know of any other hotels like this. The altitude is an astonishing 2,000m. The oxygen felt thin. There is a restaurant and a shop inside the hotel. I had a safe curry, which wasn't particularly tasty, but when you eat it in a special place like this, your tongue becomes more lenient, just like the ramen at a beach hut. You can purchase a certificate of reaching the highest point on a national highway as a memento of your trip. The golden retriever dog was also alive and well.
