Sunshine Inn Resort Khaolak

A simple, clean, and centrally located accommodation, but without comfort. The owners and staff are very friendly, which makes it hard for me to write this review. The room was clean and simply furnished, which is perfectly fine for the price. However, it was in need of renovation. Room cleaning did not happen every day as stated. I could also make do with that. Several times, I placed trash bags on the terrace, including toilet paper that wasn't supposed to be disposed of in the toilet. The bags were eventually removed, but that also meant I needed new paper, which I had to request from the owners (staff, family) myself. I repeatedly rinsed out two glasses myself. They were never replaced even once. I was only given two bottles of water on the terrace daily. The pool pictures speak for themselves. The pool was unusable, more like a pond. This was actually a key criterion for me choosing this hotel. I spoke to the owner... the answer was that everything would be clean in two days, and they were working on it. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Hotel guests who had been staying there for 8 years said it had never been any different, even with the previous owners. Since I stayed in a comparable hotel on the same street last year for an almost identical price (unfortunately, it was fully booked), the low price is not an argument for me. If you're looking for cheap accommodation, this place is fine. The terrace and pool are not inviting for lounging. I only used my room for showering and sleeping.

Great service, and it's conveniently located near the main road. This hotel is also close to several restaurants.

The room was spacious and clean. The owner was incredibly kind and lovely. We woke up late and missed breakfast, so we ordered food, but the owner ended up giving it to us for free! We ordered lunch around 12:30 PM because we overslept and missed breakfast, but the owner was so incredibly nice and sweet. (P.S. The rice porridge was delicious! Minced pork congee with egg. So good, so tasty! ❤️)

If you're not expecting miracles from a 2-star, then this is a good option for a stopover before heading to Similan Islands. The breakfast was tasty, and the hosts were welcoming. It's modest, and the cleaning could be better.

A pleasant place with a kind host. There's also a cafe where you can grab a quick and tasty meal.
