This hotel exceeded my expectations. While it’s small and budget-friendly, it’s packed with character and charm. Great location just a few minutes from the bus station and a short stroll to everything in Tallinn’s Old Town. Staying here felt like stepping into a medieval castle. What it lacks in luxury, it makes up for in atmosphere and history. The winding staircases, uneven floors, richly patterned carpets add to its quirky appeal. There’s a real beauty in its imperfections. The rooms are very small and basic, but they were spotless and suited our needs. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was squeaky clean, and we received fresh towels daily, which was more than I expected at this price point. Overall, it was more than just a place to sleep, it was a memorable experience that made us feel like we’d stepped back in time.

The hotel is located in the old town, so you can easily go back and rest after sightseeing. It's about a 1-minute walk from Fat Margaret's, and also very close to the bus stop, making it very convenient.

The Gotthard Residents has an unbeatable location on Pikk (Long) Street, which runs through Vanalinn, Tallinn's magnificent walled Old Town. The houses in this area, mostly belonging to members of the Hanseatic League, date from the 15th and 16th centuries and have been restored at various times. The Gotthard building, of great historical value and declared a cultural monument by the government, dates from the 14th century and has been modified over the centuries, until its conversion into a hotel about 15 years ago. The facade retains its original design, and inside, pieces of original stone and planks are exposed. The front rooms enjoy a splendid view: from my window at night, if I ignored the cars at the end of the block, the cobblestones and the buildings with their lanterns transported me back several centuries. The rooms are quite small, to the point that they don't even have closets: a chest of drawers and a hook with two or three loose hangers. There's a refrigerator, electric stovetop, microwave, electric kettle, and essential dishes. The bathrooms are spotless. It would be helpful if the cleaning staff spoke basic English, as the vast majority of Western guests don't speak Estonian or Russian (in my case, just a few words of Russian). The staff is friendly and honest, as they reminded me about some money I'd left behind. It's important to know that there's no night staff. The prices

Charming hotel right in Old Town Tallinn. Rooms are pretty small at least mine was but I knew that coming in. The ceilings were so tall and I got lucky and had a balcony in the back with a great view. Rooms come with a microwave, mini fridge, tabletop range, and a tea kettle. Bathroom has pretty blue tile. Front desk shuts down from 8p-8a. I purchased from ******* and didn’t pay attention that they communicate through there and sent information on how to check in after 8pm. So I had to call their sister hotel and the person on the phone gave me a code to a lock box for my key super easy.

Considering the price my room at Gotthard was superb. Both the top level room I stayed this year and a lover level room I stayed in before has been very quiet and I have been able to sleep with an open windows (notice that non of them have been facing the street) The rooms haven't been big, fairly small actually but been well equipped with modern bathrooms, a fridge, a kettle and a small stove. The lack of a lift is worth mentioning but the stairway is wide enough and if you are fairly mobile and looking for a non-expensive room in the old town that shouldn't be a problem. The relative late check-out time at noon suited me excellent. I've stayed here before and will most likely stay there again.

Disappointing Self check-in but they did not give a room number so was a bit lost when we arrived. 'Make Up The Room' meant change the towels and nothing else. Entrance untidy and dingy but the room was okay.

Squeaky bed underground I paid 70 EUR for a squeaky bed in a cave-like underground single bed room with no breakfast. Though breakfast was offered in a nearby hotel which I didn't go to. Maybe I've should've. The only window was high up and voices from the streets flooded in.
