Castel Bois Marie, Maison d'hôtes

We were disappointed with this country hotel. It’s a beautiful building though not very welcoming inside. It’s hard to imagine trying to relax in the antique furniture arranged in formal circles in the drawing room. The grounds are extensive with a big garden but not maintained very well and rather overgrown. Our bedroom was lovely though not very big, with beautiful furniture and the bed was very comfortable. But there was no bathroom door for privacy. And we couldn’t believe there were holes in the duvet cover – had to take a photo! Breakfast was OK but there was no fruit except for apples straight from the local trees. We would have appreciated information about the area and where to find nearby cafes, etc. Instead we were sent a stream of emails pushing us to book dinner at the hotel. The emails also sternly advised that check in was only from 5-7pm - very restrictive for a country hotel. It felt like they wanted you in and out as quickly as possible. It would have been more helpful to have been told about the road closure that meant a long detour to reach the hotel. Finally when we left we were overcharged for the room tax. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel

Reception and booking were perfect for this hotel / B&B. Beautiful historic building with beautiful rooms. There are 5 rooms only and the service is very personalised. Nice large rooms with a nice view of the gardens with swimmingpool and terras. Good comfortable bed. Good facilities in the bathroom. The bathroom has a rainshower together with a normal shower. In the summer there is a nice terrasse with tables and chairs. I can imagine sitting there in the evening enjoying the gardens and pool. Breakfast was good and sufficient variations for different guests. Bread, serials, vegan / vegetarian breakfast is as far as I can see available. We had an excellent stay and recommend this very nice country house.

Beautiful, charming and generous little family hotel managed with love. Stylish decor, comfortable beds and great breakfast.it is situated in a big park with old beautiful trees, nice swimming pool and outdoor terrace for barbecue and drinks.

All rooms are in excellent condition, comfortable and stylish, a mix of modern and antique with views of the garden. There is a swimming pool and a pond, covered outdoor seating for breakfast and supper.

My partner an I stayed for 1 night and it was absolutely delightful. The house is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Axelle, the hostess was lovely, welcoming and took good care of us. Once we had booked the communication was very good. As it is rooms in a house where the owners live, I was concerned that I might feel like we were imposing - but this was not the case at all - the house is so grand and spacious - and quiet. The rooms are stylish, clean and well appointed and we thought it was excellent value for money and only a short drive to Montauban. You can prebook an evening meal (which we didn't) and there was a lovely fresh continental breakfast spread laid on for us in the morning. Superb - will definitely return if we are in the area.
