Penally Abbey Hotel is a nicely located, cosy hotel with a nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. The garden is lovely, especially in nice weather. But it's in the restaurant where they badly let themselves down. The dinner menu choices aren't great. On the one night we ate there during this trip I opted for a "rarebit" dish. In practice, this turned out to be a slightly sickly cauliflower cheese, albeit augmented I think with slices of nuts. Not a particularly large helping. No potatoes, no fries, no vegetables - just a large serving spoon volume of the stuff, slopped in the middle of a plate. For this, the charge was £24 according to the menu. In actual fact, on scrutinising my bill at home afterwards, I saw that I'd been charged £34, for "lamb". Now admittedly the food isn't everything; the setting is also important. but the Penally Abbey restaurant is something akin to the breakfast room of a large B&B, which (in truth) is pretty much what is is. Anyway, bottom line: I was charged £34 for a scoop of cheesy glop that might have been adequate as a side dish. Even the £24 that I would have paid if I hadn't been robbed would have been an astonishing price for that.

Well i was so disappointed,no room service, well overpriced and far to stuffy and formal ,we did not eat in the evening at the hotel as we were hoping for some sort of room service of small plates and would have been happy to pay .Breakfast was not great, only smoked bacon ,no option for plain and the sausage was the most unusual ,almost like plant based ,the black pudding was sweet and the hash brown was tasteless.Room was lovely but there was dust everywhere and the loo brush was disgusting. Will never return as have stayed at far better hotels for less .

We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful property with amazing friendly and attentive staff. We are regular visitors to Pembrokeshire and had eaten at Penally Abbey but never managed to stay before. After a stressful day we left the Midlands far too late to make dinner so we arrived to plates of sandwiches prepared for us which we took in the lounge with cocktails and wine of our choice. The team were so welcoming, understanding and attentive, and the decor and views amazing. I can’t recommend the hotel highly enough. Thank you!

I'm giving it a 3 because its a beautiful building and grounds in a scenic location with helpful staff. My wife , who chose the location, were on a two night stay hoping to enjoy the surroundings and eat good food. It's a lovely building, great location. The food offering looked good, but an incredibly limited offering. The actual servings were minute with embarrasingly few contents. Breakfast the next day included what we later surmised was fermenting apple and orange juice, resulting in a very uncomfortable day for my good lady. We did not did there on our second evening.

Yes, this is a lovely property. Compared to what we have paid for similar ambiance, scenery, service, and breakfast, or what we have received for a similar price, there is an unfortunate value deficit. They advertise some specials and that will be worth watching out for.

I have known about these stunning hotel quite awile, but never got around to booking a stay. Finally decided to go for my partner birthday and we were not disappointed in any way. Service were absolutely amazing. Dinner in Rhosyn Restaurant highly recommended as it was fantastic experience. Sleeping was very comfortable and relaxing. Room was very cosy and exceptionally clean. We definitely will be back again.

Hugely disappointing afternoon tea. Overpriced at £32. We have had afternoon teas here twice in the past 6 years but this weekend was a big disappointment. Very poor savoury selection, which if you didn’t like curry flavour was a problem. Only 2 sandwich fingers per person. Had two additional soft drinks to the afternoon tea and then advised gratuitous was added to the bill came to an eye watering £7 Wont be back and won’t be recommending which is something we have done in the past!

Booked afternoon tea here on Mothers' Day. A real touch of luxury - relaxed setting, beautiful surroundings and views, attentive staff and wonderfully presented food. Thank you Penally Abbey for making our day so special. Nothing was too much trouble for you and for us as your guests, the whole experience was delightful.
