the entire stay was very pleasant. the hotel looked good during my stay. the room was clean and very accommodating. the hotel housekeepers definitely take their job seriously. would not hesitate to stay again if i come to decatur il for business again

I checked in around 6 pm. The room smelled strange. The drapes were not hanging correctly and were dragging on the floor. I checked out by 10 pm after I saw som powdery white substance in a corner that continued along the baseboard to behind the bed. There was no offer to change rooms which I probably would have declined at that point. So disappointing!

There was a slipper from a previous traveler under the bed. Candy wrappers/stains on the sheets and bathroom sink was leaking. The carpets didn’t seem vacuumed, the bathtub had rust spots. Absolutely filthy with smoke and pot spell throughout the hotel.

We have filed a complaint regarding being double charged. We have called and emailed. No response except that the hotel cannot provide a receipt and to file with our Credit Card company. Received an email stating that IT had an upgrade and cannot find receipt; even though credit card shows charges. Now we are dealing with the credit card company to file a claim.

We have stayed here many times in the past as this is our go to hotel when we are in the area. First I will say the staff is super and this review has nothing to do with them. The 3rd floor had an odd smell. The room we were in was in desperate need of a deep clean and a refreshing. I wiped off the heater/AC unit as it was disgustingly dirty. There were spots on the walls both inside the bathroom and by the area to hang clothes. I’m hoping it was spots of chocolate and pizza sauce. Rim of bathtub was dusty as was the sink area. Don’t think it should be up to the patrons to tidy up the rooms. I will say that it did appear that a small group of staff was trying to do it all….cleaning, breakfast, check in, etc. for a full house.

When booking this hotel a year in advance the reviews looked good, but something has happened over the last year. I should have checked the reviews again but didn't. I will reiterate what most have been saying in previous months. Check in was standard procedure, the front desk person was very apologetic for the room condition and tried to get us a different room. There were no other rooms available on the third floor. (Our preference) Room was disappointingly dirty. Stains on the bed sheets, no bed protector and room and was very dated. I changed my own sheets and washed bathroom counter and floor which was visibly dirty. Pay attention to the most recent reviews less than a year old they are accurate. The elevator is very scary as others have mentioned. The back patio was over run by beer drinking loud construction workers. The towels and wash clothes were dingy grey and some were stained. The refrigerator did not work but for one night not a big deal. I would rather have a clean room. I would not recommend this hotel and will not be back. This hotel was filled with construction workers not road trippers on vacation.

The pillows are very small, the shower water wouldn’t get hot and the hotel needs a little work. The sitting area was ok and the pool needs painting on the bottom. The grills on the patio was a plus.

Quaint and really cute hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff. Hotel is supposed to be 100% smoke free but I’m assuming it used to be a smoking facility because our entire room smelled of cigarette smoke the entire weekend. We had some spray and got used to it though, otherwise it was very clean. Continental breakfast was very minimal but not a big deal to us because plenty of restaurants in the area.
