We managed to book a family connecting room, which was highly sought-after during the summer. Seeing its 120sqm size, I even entertained the thought of setting up a tent for the kids inside. However, the rather convoluted route from the underground parking to the hotel lobby (taking an elevator from the parking to the 6th floor, then transferring to the hotel's elevator to the 1st floor for check-in, and only then proceeding to our room's floor) thankfully stopped me from pursuing that idea. They call it a connecting room, and it truly lived up to its name – literally a wall knocked down between a king-size room and a twin room, with two doors installed. The kids were constantly running between rooms, making it easy for them to bump into cabinet corners. But we didn't dwell on that for long, as the front desk had generously upgraded us to a high-floor view room on the 45th floor. Late August, and the mosquitoes were still out in full force. There were mosquitoes in our room, so we asked the front desk for liquid mosquito repellent. We were initially told they had run out, but then one was brought to us. However, with such a sprawling, multi-cornered connecting room, one repellent unit simply wasn't enough to cover the entire space. The kids ended up with bites. We asked again, only to be told once more that all repellents had been distributed and none were left. I could only express my frustration to the front desk via WeChat. To my surprise, the hotel staff went to great lengths and managed to track down another 'precious' mosquito repellent for us. Very much appreciated. As noted in the attached pictures (to the original review), I have a strong preference for luxury hotels and enjoy experiencing different properties; I'm no stranger to star-rated hotel stays. Perhaps a bit presumptuously, I assumed that the minibar items in a room costing over 1300 RMB per night would be complimentary. So I didn't bother checking the price list and just consumed all the drinks. However, I'm unsure if the charges were incurred because a previous guest had only opened a tea caddy or an emergency kit, or if it was an oversight by the housekeeping staff. Fortunately, the discussion to resolve it was concluded amicably. It was truly an unforgettable trip to Tianjin. For such a wonderful five-star hotel, I sincerely wish them full occupancy every day and great success!
