The hotel was spotless, and the service was excellent. It wasn't crowded, and we even received a complimentary room upgrade. The swimming pool was very clean and featured massage jets. Unfortunately, not all the hot spring pools were open yet. The billiards room was a nice amenity.

This hotel truly exceeded our expectations. It's incredibly grand and impressive in scale, and the cleanliness was exceptional. The public restrooms, in particular, were spotless! Its a large complex. Lots of walking to and from things. But it still maintains charm. The rooms and materials, I found excellent. The hot spring section is nice place to hangout in the cool mountain air evenings. Hot springs don’t go above 38 Celsius though which was a bit disappointing, but still a good experience. I appreciated the late checkout at 2pm. The breakfast is a loud and rowdy affair. OK food. Walking distance to Guoqing Temple which was a great visit, although crowded like everything in China. O

We booked a king-size room, and the front desk upgraded us to one directly facing the hot spring. Using my Ctrip membership points, the hotel also provided a complimentary fruit platter, which was delicious. When planning my trip to Tiantai Mountain, I searched for hotels closest to Guoqing Temple and decided on Wenquan Mountain Villa. While the hotel certainly shows its age, it's still well-maintained and efficiently operated. Due to the original architectural design, my assigned room required a bit of a walk, but I actually saw it as a good workout! Guoqing Temple opens at 7 AM, and it's a pleasant 10-minute walk from the hotel. The early morning scenery along the path to the temple was breathtaking. After my visit, it was just right to head back to the hotel for breakfast. In the evening, after exploring the sights, I had dinner at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. It was excellent! Even though it was a bit tricky to find and consisted entirely of private rooms, it didn't compromise the quality or taste of the food. After years of traveling, I've found that dining at the hotel often guarantees a good meal. A dip in the hot springs in the evening was perfect for unwinding. Even in summer, the hot spring experience was fantastic! The hotel thoughtfully provided tea and snacks, which was a lovely touch. Terrible experience! After checking in on the evening of August 8th, both my child and I were covered in many red, swollen bites. My child, in particular, had over a dozen bites that were red, itchy, and extremely uncomfortable. We suspect they were flea bites or from other insects. Initially, when I booked, I thought it was a B&B. The hotel staff proactively reached out via WeChat to share an introduction to the property, and upon arrival, I found it to be much grander than I had imagined. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from Guoqing Temple, and Qiongtai Xiangu is less than half an hour away by taxi. (A helpful tip often overlooked in travel guides: Qiongtai Xiangu and Tiantaishan Grand Waterfall are connected. It's much easier to start at Qiongtai Xiangu, then cross Huixian Bridge and descend along the waterfall, which saves a lot of effort.) Excellent location, just a 5-minute walk from Guoqing Temple, and the hotel offers ample parking. The reception staff were super friendly and welcoming. Our room was on a high floor and quite spacious. While it's an older hotel, it's well-maintained with good hygiene and facilities. The outdoor pool and hot springs open at 5:00 PM.
