MAT RYOGOKU

The rooms are only big enough to sleep in, there's no space for luggage. The living room is also only large enough to open two suitcases. One of the bedrooms didn't have air conditioning, and there was hair on the sheets. It also looked like the living room floor hadn't been vacuumed 😅. The location is convenient to the station, and there's a convenience store downstairs.

The guesthouse is about an 8-minute walk from Ryogoku JR Station, and there's a convenience store downstairs, which is super handy. The room was clean, with separate bins for recycling, and it had a washing machine and a fridge. Highly recommended!

There was blood on the duvet and secretions on the sofa, it was incredibly dirty. The location was terrible, about a 20-minute walk from the main tourist subway station. I'll never go back.

This trip involved a larger group, 4 adults and 2 children, so taking the subway from Narita Airport with all our luggage would have been a hassle. That's why we opted for a taxi to the hotel this time. The hotel is a bit of a distance from Ryogoku Station. If you don't have much luggage or aren't traveling with elderly folks or children, it's actually quite convenient, and you'll pass supermarkets and small eateries along the way. Right next to the hotel is a Lawson convenience store, which is perfect for grabbing coffee or snacks to refuel in the morning or evening. Before the trip, I noticed that there's a funeral home right next to the hotel. I was a bit concerned if the elders would mind, but then I thought that it's just a place for ceremonies, not a graveyard. My elders later even said they slept well for the two nights we stayed there, actually sleeping worse during the later parts of our trip to Kawaguchiko and Hakone. So, those considering staying here shouldn't worry too much. Just a heads-up before checking in: make sure you understand the self-check-in process. I didn't pay attention to the hotel's messages and ended up standing downstairs for about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get in. The elders were so hungry they went to the convenience store next door to buy bread first. LOL. Out of all our accommodations in Japan, this hotel was the kids' favorite!

This was my first time visiting Tokyo, and if I ever come back, I'd definitely choose this place again! The convenience store is right next door, the subway station isn't far, and it was so easy and quick to get to Akihabara, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and the Skytree! The accommodation itself was also really great!!
