HOTEL MYSTAYS Ueno Iriyaguchi

If you want to experience 90s accommodation, this is the place for you. For 700+ yuan, there are many better options. This place is really outdated. The front desk staff provided almost no service. They gave us a terrible corner room. It was a very unpleasant stay. The hygiene conditions were too poor. I don't recommend it.

This is my second stay here. This time I booked a twin room and found it to be very spacious and well-equipped. I mainly chose this hotel for its proximity to Ueno, which makes it convenient for taking the train to the airport.

The front desk service was mediocre. Out of the 6 or 7 hotels I stayed at in Japan, this was the only one that required a photocopy of my passport to keep on file. I wouldn't recommend it.

This hotel is conveniently located near Ueno Station, making it easy to walk to Asakusa and Akihabara. It's rare to find such a great location at this price point. For Tokyo, the room size was quite good. It was very quiet at night, allowing for a peaceful sleep. During our 4-night stay, they provided cleaning service on one of the days. The front desk service was excellent, always staffed.

This hotel is relatively close to Ueno Station, but not super close. There are other hotels nearby, and if the prices are similar, I wouldn't recommend this Mystays. It's too old, unless you're looking for a 1980s experience. The good thing is that laundry isn't expensive – 200 yen for washing, 100 yen for drying – but it takes more than one cycle to get clothes dry.

For a hotel in Tokyo, the room was quite spacious. The location is incredibly convenient; you can walk to Senso-ji Temple, and it's not far from Ueno Station and Keisei Ueno Station. There are many convenience stores nearby, giving it a lively, local feel. I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit.

The room was quite small, but I guess that's pretty standard for Tokyo at this price point. It felt like a really clean, privately-run guesthouse, similar to what you might find in China.
