We stayed at the Carpenters Arms as a stopover on our way home to Devon following a family funeral in Tonbridge. We couldn’t fault the stay; very comfortable room , good shower , friendly helpful staff and an excellent huge breakfast that set us up for the long drive home.Didn’t need to eat again till the evening!

Blimey, I know that things are expensive these days but this was slightly OTT. I ordered an Estrella shandy that cost me £7.80. It wasn't even half and half and was so weak I didn't know if it was cats or gnats. I pint of Estrella was cheaper than a shandy. On the plus side it was a loverly bar and what looked like a good restuarant. Next time I won't order a shandy. LOL

We arrived on a Sunday evening from a family event and had a delicious Sunday dinner. The room was comfortable, clean and with a very spacious bathroom. We had a fabulous breakfast the next morning, full English for the bloke and Eggs Florentine for me. Good Place with pleasant staff .

Maybe it’s because they took a late booking but the overall experience we had was average at best. The children’s meals (2) were very poorly presented and under what ours could eat. We had to order some more to fill one up. Then for the adult mains, my wife’s beef was inedible! Hard as old boots. Eventually got hold of our server and replacement beef arrived which was fine but by that time the rest of the meal had been consumed so it was just the beef we should have had first time on its own. Not overly impressed for what we got charged. Not in any hurry to go back.

A very well run country pub/hotel. We stayed here after returning from France. It is ideally suited for a stop off after crossing via the Shuttle or Dover ferries. Excellent food and wine selection, although I would have liked a wider range of ales for a pub associated with a major brewery. Everyone was extremely friendly and we loved our stay. (By the way it is 'Three Elm' Lane, not number 3 Elm Lane)

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights during Xmas . Our stay was wonderful , lovely clean, comfortable, quiet room, excellent efficient friendly staff, and beautiful food especially our Xmas lunch with the family. Have booked to stay again in January and are really looking forward to it .

Very nice food and staff. The only negative I felt was the type of flooring in the corridors made it noisy as I was in room 2 by the fire escape stairs and I was aware of all the banging doors and people walking past as this was the entrance after 11pm.
