thin walls, can be heard and can also hear the neighbours. washrooms can be extremely annoying and loud in the evenings. friday night the bars nearby explode with music so i would keep that in mind. overall other than that, great experience, you’re definitely getting the money you pay. towels are definitely on the smaller side but they provide you two so it’s manageable. they serve the same breakfast (bagels, oatmeal, cereal) everyday. kinda tastes dry. their water dispenser machine is really slow and frustrating at times. but i would still recommend this spot. i would say its a hidden gem and dont get pushed away from the suggestions for improvement that i had listed^^

Well located right next to the Spadina tram station and within walking distance for the metro/subway. Right on the street for Kensington Market too, so for people looking to sightsee the market it is a good place right next to a lot of cafés/food. The staff were the highlight of this place though, they were just so lovely and personable individuals who made my stay feel like staying at a friend of a friend's spare room. They made friendly conversation and would remember me from the night before, and especially as the World Cup was playing during my stay they mentioned they were showing it in the common areas. The room itself was nicely laid out with two bunk beds and a locker tucked in at the end. Each bed was equipped with pull curtains, a platform on the wall to place your phone/wallet/keys, two sockets, and a light. Showers and toilets were in separate communal spaces, with both spaces having at least one sink. I found it nice that you could grab more towels if needed in the main lobby, and you can also ask for extra amenities like a hair dryer at the front desk. Breakfast was a nice spread of bagels, fruit (apples, bananas, oranges), milk (& oat milk!), cereal, hot water for coffee/tea, cream cheese, peanut butter, and jams. They also provided to-go cups and had a service where if you leave before breakfast begins (i.e. checking out earlier than breakfast), the staff will pack you a breakfast for the road if you tell them. The common areas also had great ambience, this included seating in the dining area, semi-private outdoor area (seats are outside but only guests are able to access it), and outdoor patio with tables/chairs right at the hostel's entrance. Overall, I loved my stay at Samesun again, I stayed in their Montreal branch before and it was great, and this time around I had yet another positive experience! Everything is so well-thought-out for tourists, especially for solo travellers and adventurers.

The location is great, right outside there's a bus stop, and the subway isn't too far either. The only thing is there are so many key cards needed to get through all the doors – I even had to take my room card with me to the shower and toilet! Some of the front desk staff were super friendly though; one even helped me carry my suitcase upstairs (this hostel doesn't have an elevator, and there's no laundry room here, but you can pay to do laundry at a place across the street). Overall, I think it's pretty good! There were some homeless people outside, but they seemed harmless.

The price was reasonable, and the room was clean with no unpleasant odors. My roommates were also very considerate. There are shops and convenience stores nearby, making it easy to order takeout and late-night snacks. The dining area was also kept very clean.

Nice hostel, the staff are super friendly, and it's regularly cleaned. The breakfast is great, just make sure not to go too late.

I had a hard time finding this place, but later I learned that it's better to use the updated map. It was clean. But unfortunately, my neighbors were a bit restless all night. Breakfast was without coffee, but overall you could have a snack.

Stayed here for a night. Some might find the location a little dodgy at night due to homeless population in the area but otherwise really good food places around and across the street from a convenience store!

Good hostel in Kensington market, near Chinatown and grafitti alley (see picture). Very loud and shaky beds but nice kitchen and common room.

I was very satisfied with my stay at Samesun. The best part was the communal kitchen, where you could cook your own meals, and there was free breakfast every morning, including milk, bread, and fruit. I also took the opportunity to visit the Art Gallery of Ontario to see the John Lennon photography exhibition. Overall, it was a very satisfying travel experience.

The bathroom and sink here weren't as spacious as in Vancouver, but the breakfast was fantastic, though I forgot to take pictures. The front desk staff were warm and polite. It would be even better if the bed could be replaced so it doesn't creak when getting in and out.

Simple and efficient if you are on a short trip. Staff is friendly, the place is clean and is located in a lively neighborhood with pubs, bars and restaurants.

The shared shower room is *too* shared, meaning there's nowhere to put your personal toiletries. A simple breakfast is provided in the morning, which is nice. I liked that the beds have curtains. It's great that shower towels are provided for free. There's a 24-hour convenience store right out front. However, there are homeless people around 24/7 next to it... It's unnerving when they all stare at me at once... I felt scared both day and night. Some homeless individuals stand by the convenience store door, holding it open, then demand money after opening it for you. I know how to open a door myself, and I never asked them to open it for me... I was sharing a room with someone from a country known for poor hygiene, and they had a strong, unpleasant body odor. It was truly agonizing. My request to switch rooms was not processed, apparently because there were no other rooms available.
