Hotel Sakura

This beautiful hotel nestled into a hillside just outside the main town centre of Torre Del Greco was absolutely perfect! The view of the sea was amazing, there is lots of outdoor seating either in the sun or in the shade to enjoy the glorious Italian sunshine, and plenty of indoor seating also. The rooms were spacious and comfy and had a small balcony, the beds were comfortable and the mini fridge had drinks inside (chargeable) for your convenience. The breakfast was included and was plenty of choice, and the dinner which you can make a reservation for was in a lovely dining area and the food was amazing! The absolute best part of the stay without a doubt was the staff. Every single one of them were courteous, polite, friendly, and could not do more to help if they tried. Special mention to Ilir who made our stay that little bit better. He arranged a taxi to pick us up to go to Pompeii the following morning, helped us to get a taxi back to the hotel from Torre Del Greco, bought all our drinks out to the terrace for us when we requested them, found us a charger that worked in the hotel plug sockets… he was incredible so a special thank you to Ilir!! I would recommend this hotel to anybody. It is central between Naples and Pompeii and then Sorrento, all of which we easily managed to travel to via the train. Tied, scratches on the walls, difficult to operate taps and poor rate of water. Only one small towel rail and no face washing clothes. For Aussies that is a pain. We also had to carry heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs before reaching the elevator. That’s ok for the young but difficult for the elderly.Also I requested a second pillow on our first night and never received it. Gggrrrrr. The website shows a pool but doesn’t mention you have to pay €15 to use it. You cannot get a coffee or any other drink before 6 pm apart from at breakfast. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room either, so you have to try to find something open nearby which is difficult if you are on a tour. I would not recommend staying here.

The hotel is marvellous. The staff were all eager, polite, and kind - that's reception, cleaners, and hospitality. I couldn't fault anybody. The room was excellent with a great shower room and gorgeous balcony. I asked for a kettle and it was promptly provided. The hotel is clean and beautifully-decorated with a magnificent, bright foyer. There is outdoor, al fresco-dining. The dinner menu is sparse, but a similar price to a restaurant and good food. There is a decent variety for the buffet breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, boiled eggs, some fruit, and a selection of cakes. The hotel is situated halfway round the bay from Napoli and up a steep hill, on Vesuvio. Therefore, you will either require transport or be a fit walker. The railway station is down the hill and buses are rare, as are taxis, and stop at 10pm. The train into Napoli takes 25 minutes. Tickets are €2.6 each way. Take care of valuables on the train. A well presented hotel with good parking. It is perfectly situated if your after a base foe the archelogy at Pompeii and Herculaneum. Breakfast was small but of good quality and the place was spotless. Our only issue was the sat nav tried taking us to the rear of the building which isn't a public area.
