Havgrim Seaside Hotel 1948

The Havgrim Seaside Hotel 1948 was a perfect choice for our one week’s stay on the Faroe Islands. It is situated in a lovely location - right on the shoreline overlooking Nolsoy Island and also just a short walk away from Torshavn city centre. Our room was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. Also, the bathroom was very well equipped with all essentials. We visited at a time when the temperatures were above average for the Faroes. Therefore, we would have liked more fresh air circulating in our room. However, this was not possible as the only window in the room was fitted with a restraint that only allowed us to open it no more than a couple of centimetres. That said, all the breakfasts we had were excellent and the hotel caters for not only local, but also European and British tastes. Finally, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Therefore, we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Havgrim Seaside Hotel 1948 to anyone considering a stay in this beautiful and interesting country.

While the rooms are on the small side, the location and setting makes up for it. Every staff member was helpful and friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. We did opt to have the breakfast there every morning and it was delicious in the most beautiful setting overlooking the sea. So close to the downtown area! It had everything we needed and more!

We stayed about a week in early May. The Havgrim can best be described as cozy and intimate with a handful of rooms. Beautiful sea view and easy walk into town. Breakfast is lovely - and saves you from having to get breakfast in town as there are limited restaurants. I would say depending on the direction of the wind you can hear larger trucks leaving Torshavn from your room if you are super sensitive to noise , otherwise you can hear the ocean waves. A lovely stay!

Our vacation at Havgrim Seaside has been very comfortable. Staff members prepared a warm welcome, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The young man preparing the breakfast buffet provided good service (thank you again). The view from the cozy breakfast room was great, ideal for bird watching.

Our stay at the Havgrim Seaside Hotel was fabulous. Great view. Beautiful room. Convenient. The bathroom situation was a bit awkward unless you are very comfortable with your room mate. There was a clear glass door which meant there was no privacy.

Great location, nice views plus easy to drive back to. Hours of front desk, especially in the morning are too restricted.

Probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Dream-like. Amazing view. Delicious food. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

So-called “Deluxe room with sea view” was on the lower level, with very limited sea view and was extremely small and claustrophobic. If this was “Deluxe” I cannot imagine how small a standard room must be. More like Fawlty Towers than an upper range hotel. And some very strange restrictions on when you could check out (if you want to check out before 10 am you must do it the night before, but you must be out by 12 noon). Also small annoying things like having to pay extra if you wanted to use the hot tub. Do not recommend…
