Nice hotel on the Lake. The big benefit is the front desk staff, who were immensely helpful negotiating the holiday boat schedule as well as recommendations for things to see. If you’re staying overnight around Lake Como, I highly recommend staying in Varenna. We were able to take the empty early morning train to our next destination without having to wade through a lot of other tourists.

Location could not be better. View of water and sound of lapping water to sleep by. Breakfast delicious. Staff much more than simply pleasant and accommodating — they truly made us feel like family and honored guests! Thank you to all the staff—every single one of you made our stay there perfect.

This hotel was recommended to us by friends and it did not disappoint. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. They cleaned our room every morning and freshened it each evening including fresh towels each time. The bed was very comfortable - not too soft. Great water pressure with lots of hot water. Great flushing toilet. The view from the hotel is fabulous. We went to see the Grand Hotel Tremezzo and thought we had the superior view at Hotel du Lac. The breakfast each morning is included with the room. There is a buffet of pastries and cheeses. And you can order a variety of eggs or omelets and the bacon is delicious. There is great hiking nearby. I recommend the hike to the castle Vezio and its gardens. Also lots of nearby bars and restaurants. We had dinner at the hotel our last night with their tasting menu - fantastic. Highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely, charming hotel with very kind staff members. Our room was spacious with a breathtaking view. Included a wonderful breakfast, again with a great view. The scrambled eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had. I was sad to leave and hope to return.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel and my only regret is that I did not stay longer. It's really a gem, sits right on the water, and has a great atmosphere. But what really makes this hotel even better is the wonderful staff. They are just great with warm personalities and superb sense of hospitality The breakfast is delicious and first class, the view superb, and Varenna is the perfect stop for Lake Como. I would recommend taking a taxi from the train to the hotel as it's not the easiest walk with suitcases. They told me about taking a taxi and I forgot and thought no problem as it was a short walk. However, there are stairs and cobblestone streets to navigate. I have nothing negative to say. I did not eat dinner at the hotel but heard the restaurant is amazing. I did however, have the best cappuccinos and Aperol spritzes there. I look forward to a return visit one day.

My husband and I spent four nights of our honeymoon in Varenna and were so fortunate to have found and booked this hotel. It was a dream come true. From the wonderfully kind front desk staff (like Tatiana, Valentina, Claudia and Alex) to the beautifully (and simply) appointed rooms, the hotel is an absolute gem. The robes and slippers are a nice touch, along with the welcome cookies. I adored the lake view that we had from our room. Waking up to this view was truly magical. We especially loved the morning breakfasts on the terrace, which despite being in (touristy season) July, were quiet and picturesque. The quality of the breakfasts were top notch, and not to be missed. We also had lunch at the hotel restaurant, which was fantastic as well. The only thing we wished this hotel had was a pool, to allow for lounging near some water in the heat. It was our first time in Varenna, and we’re dreaming of a time in the near future when we can return. Grazie Mille Hotel du lac Varenna.

An excellent hotel. The staff from the owner to the desk clerks to the wait staff to the maids were incredibly polite and efficient! The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delightful with a wonderful view of Lake Como. The location is right in city center with a short walk to ferries.

This is our first time to Lake Como, and our first time staying at the Hotel Du Lac Varenna, Italy. This is by far one of the lakes best hotels, beautifully situated in the town of Varenna. From the time we arrived by car, the service was first class. We were lucky to be upgraded to a lovely large room located on the 3d floor with a lovely balcony overlooking the lake. The Restaurant Du Lac is amazing. The views of the lake will take your breath away. Guests staying in the hotel have access to the terrace restaurant for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and snacks throughout the day. We will be back! The Best Place to stay when coming to Lake Como! Thank you to the entire team at the Hotel Du Lac! Jetsetz

Awesome hotel. Every one of the staff is so friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts and lunches on the terrace overlooking Lake Como were fantastic. Our room with small terrace overlooking the lake was perfect. We LOVE this hotel. A big shout out to Tatyana at the front desk.
