The Green

The Green is a stunning house, beautifully and thoughtfully restored, but what really makes it special is the warmth and hospitality. The hosts seem to have perfected that lovely balance of being welcoming and attentive while allowing you to completely relax and enjoy their beautiful home. Our room (Larkspur) was extremely comfortable, with gorgeous bed linen, large fluffy white towels and hand and shower products that smelled divine. There are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the complimentary tea and biscuits when we arrived to the honesty bar…everything feels generous without being overdone. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, starting with homemade granola and Earl Grey poached pears so good I was tempted to have seconds! It was one of those breakfasts where you could tell real thought had gone into every detail. And then there are the gardens. We loved wandering around them in the morning, discovering the beautiful trees and planting, the Victorian kitchen garden and even purple tomatoes! The whole setting is peaceful and rather magical. We only stayed for one night and genuinely wished it had been longer. The Green is one of those rare places that feels both special and wonderfully relaxed. We would return in a heartbeat. Beautiful house that has been recently renovated and furnished to a very high standard. All of the rooms are delightful and on arrival we were welcomed warmly by Aurelius with tea and homemade flapjacks. Very peaceful location. Claire was very friendly and keen to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Delicious breakfast.

The Green has it all: a location in stunning countryside, but close to the pleasures of Bradford on Avon, Lacock and Bath. The house itself is beautiful, and each time I visit I go home hoping to recreate some of the elegant, comfortable, period magic of the interiors in my own home. The hosts, Claire and Aurelius clearly care deeply about giving their guests the perfect experience. The breakfast is divine, with lots of choice. We first visited for a Valentine’s weekend, but loved it so much we filled the whole house with friends for my husband’s 60th birthday weekend. It could not have been a better venue. Everyone loved their room and Claire and Aurelius made everything run smoothly, including recommending and liaising with the chef we hired for our black tie dinner on the Saturday night. Behind the scenes a great deal of work went in to looking after our party, but we felt welcome and totally at ease, even to the point of departure which felt like saying goodbye to old friends rather than professional hosts. Professional yes, but warm and considerate. The Green has become very special to us and we will return soon.

The Green is an idyllic, beautifully furnished B&B in a peaceful location in Wiltshire. The house is exquisitely decorated, the hosts are extremely welcoming and the cooked breakfasts are delicious. It was lovely to walk in the grounds and enjoy the lovely walled garden. We enjoyed watching the young hare in the garden both from the window seat in our bedroom and from the dining room a breakfast. A truly lovely place to stay. Not far from Bradford-upon-Avon or Trowbridge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend a visit.

I have been lucky enough to spend a couple of dreamy days/nights at The Green in Wingfield. A wonderfully tranquil setting for an intimate family gathering, which included walks around the grounds, playing crocket on the front lawn and a game of boules under the trees in the back garden. I stayed in a beautifully presented dual aspect room overlooking the long drive and croquet area on one side and across open fields on the other. The room had high ceilings, a huge en-suite with rain-head shower as well as a roll-topped bath - sheer bliss to relax in at the end of a long day! The comfortable and grand bed made falling asleep on a warm summer's evening very easy, despite wanting to soak up the grandeur of the occasion. The sun, bird songs and a gentle breeze welcomed in the next morning ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits, pastries and cooked options. Aurelius, Claire and Julian really have put their love and hearts into every detail making the stay a truly luxurious one at this historical country house. From design and decoration to delicious catering and warm welcome. The experience was fabulous! Thank you.

A perfect stay in a perfect place! We read an article in the Times and loved the idea of a luxury B and B in a part of the UK we know and love . We were so enchanted by everything at The Green . Claire and Aurelius were charming and attentive hosts. The house has been decorated with love, panache and vision. The secluded, mature grounds are delightful too . Our room was divine, spacious and elegant and the breakfasts delicious. We had multiple conversations with our patient hosts ( sorry to distract you both from your duties! ) We can see ourselves returning later this year and on an ongoing basis as we had such a wonderful and memorable stay and The Green represents exactly what we seek from a weekend in the country. Thank you both very much!

We enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful night here. Aurelius and Claire could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Our room was perfect - beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and shower. Plenty of spaces downstairs to sit and relax, and the grounds are also worth exploring. A delicious breakfast too. We will be staying again.
