My main reason to go to Ajigasawa was to visit the Takayama Inari Shrine with its snaking Tori gates. It’s about a tenth the length and size of Kyoto’s. Found this ryokan by reviews in the area. It was a toss up between this and the nearby hotel; which turns out to be run by the same group! The ryokan shows its age. But it’s very comfortable, clean and the service, especially by Noro who used his translation app so well, was impeccable! They have map of the property in English. If you drink (alcohol), it’s available in spades! There’s unlimited snacks, water, soda, popsicles, coffee, tea and alcohol for guests. The onsen is open to public, it seemed like the whole village descends after dinner to have a dip! We spent one night: dinner and breakfast were excellent!

I booked a Japanese style club room which has a mini onsen. Room is quite spacious but low table is quite big too. Room is not soundproof, some noises from people who drinking could be heard. Public bath is big and it opens for external customers as well. It could be crowded. Food was excellent. Free flow drinks is a plus. Staffs are very friendly and attentive. Hotel provides shuttle services between the hotel and Ajigasawa station.

Love this hot spring hotel very much. I thought the location was quite deserted, but in fact there were many convenience stores and restaurants nearby. The waiters at the hot spring hotel are all very friendly and hospitable, with a sense of humor, and they all talk and laugh with the customers. Have dinner and breakfast at the hot spring hotel. The food is local cuisine, very rich and delicious, and it is really worth the money. They also have free drinks until 11 pm. Drinks for dinner and breakfast are also free flow. There are different juices, coffees, sakes and foreign wines to choose from.

I visited the Suigun inn. [Customer service] I received a phone call a few days before my stay to confirm details. At that time, I told him that I would like to visit for our anniversary, and he explained that he would add a ``bonus'' to the meal. I had high expectations even before my visit. I had to wait a little while to check in, but the time went by in a relaxed manner and I didn't feel like I was being kept waiting. All the staff were very kind. [Room] It was a room with an open-air bath, but it also had a garden, which was spacious! The bathtub in the open-air bath is also large, so you can soak in it slowly. Since this is an inn in a snowy country, even though it's called an open-air bath, it's actually inside a building that overhangs the garden. The temperature is quite high, perhaps because it's a natural hot spring source, so if you don't like hot water, you might want to add a little water. About a month ago, I went to another hot spring that was said to be good for the skin, but the hot water at Suigun no Yado soaks into your body and relieves your fatigue. I went to the public bath after 9pm (after the end of the day trip). There was also a sauna which I enjoyed. [Meal: Dinner] It was the “Matsu” course, but there was more than I could finish! The fresh fish that arrived that day is brought to you in front of you and you let us choose. After a short wait, it is grilled over charcoal and served to you. The abalone was delicious. Also, the sashimi boat platter was huge (apparently this was a ``bonus'' for the anniversary, but it was so luxurious that I had to pay extra for it). The sashimi of the phantom fish Itou was really delicious. [Meal: Breakfast] Lots of side dishes on two tiers! The famous "grilled shellfish miso" was also delicious. [Others] Since it is an "all-inclusive" plan, you can enjoy unlimited drinks and snacks. Once you stay at this inn, you basically don't need to go out. This is also a high point. [Comprehensive evaluation] Ajigasawa is a little far from Aomori City and Hirosaki City, but if you go sightseeing around Mt. Iwaki, it won't be too difficult. I really wanted to visit again.
