My husband and I have stayed at the Oyster Box many times when visiting family in Durban. We both agree that it is a world class hotel. The service is outstanding - truly 'best in class'. It's clear that all of the staff, no matter what their positions are, have been incredibly well trained from a customer service perspective. Our experience has always been magical. We had an Amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express, Umhlanga. This has to be one of the best service I've experienced (local and international included). Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this Establishment. Check in was awesome. Brendan and team were extremely Welcoming, Friendly and Efficient. We were settled into the room in no time as well as informed of all the amenities. We traveled as a group and the team helped us to get rooms close to each other which was so convenient. Breakfast was scrumptious and the service exceeded our expectations. Trisha and the team take their work and service to customers so seriously - like it's their own company. My son wanted Chocolate muffins and they baked it specially for him - how amazing is that! We were leaving early to the airport and Trisha offered to have breakfast ready from 5am - was so impressed and grateful. This has to be one of the best hotels across the world. Forget that super fancy, very expensive hotel next door. You know the one. Stay here instead. The Beverly Hills is fantastic, and the location can’t be beat. We could walk to restaurants and feel very safe. The boardwalk / beachfront was connected to the hotel property (with a security guard offering cold water upon our return). There’s free parking on site, and the pool area, with shaded lounge chairs, is upscale and relaxing. The breakfast options were so ample and varied that it took us several walk-throughs just to determine what we should have (or where we should start!). The room was very pleasant, with robes, nice linens, and a convenient patio with table and chairs for comfortable ocean and people watching. We also had a perfect view of the gorgeous lighthouse. We really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience, and the Beverly Hills gave us everything we wanted or needed at a much more reasonable rate than the Oyster place next door. We can’t recommend the Beverly Hills highly enough!

Umhlanga is a beautiful location, it is safe, clean and easy going. There is a nearby beach 🏖 with an amazing whale bone pier and stunning views. The large gateway mall is a 7-10mins walk and is filled with all kinds of entertainment, food, shopping experiences you may need. The hotel service is good. Ultimate highlight of my trip was the pool 🏊‍♀️ clean and never busy.

well! The best hotel in the class, the neighborhood is very safe, fast food, Chinese and Western food are available, the beach is very beautiful, but a bit expensive, but it is worth it, five-star worth experiencing

Staying at Fire and Ice was a lovely experience! The staff were amazing, my room smelled so fresh and clean and the bed was so comfy it made me second guess leaving it! It’s right next to a big mall with great restaurants and the beach is just a 5min uber (R15) away! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a good place to stay!

Had a very wonderful stay and for the first time, the place is clean and also the location is great. First time getting there during breakfast, the service was not the same, but then at a later stage that was fixed and there was equality.

Very spacious and comfortable rooms. The bed is comfy, the location to the shops is just across the road about 50m and the safety around the area is reassuring. There are plenty of restaurants within close walking distance and check in was seamless. Only issue would like housekeeping to refill coffee and tea.

There is no breakfast, and there is a breakfast shop downstairs. A family of three with children, very comfortable. Ten minutes walk from the hotel is the beach, and the hotel is a dining street downstairs, very convenient.

I was happy when the reservation staff was able to provide me with a room with a view. They were able to accommodate my need to check in early because we were having an event at the hotel. Nothing is better than getting up to a breathtaking view of the ocean. I was disappointed with the bathroom as the shower lacks safety handles. It was a family room so safety is of ultra importance. The shower floor tiles were smooth and slippery. The beds are comfortable and has an ironing board and iron at your disposal. There is adequate cupboard space for a family of 4. Room service was a disappointing a you pay a additional tariff for room service. It took over 45 minutes to have our food delivered on both occasions. The food arrived cold. I requested if we could checkout of the room later, the receptionist allowed us to do so. I was disappointed with the taste and quality of the breakfast. It was mediocre. The plus on the stay was that the food is Halaal, prepared in a fully Hallal kitchen and there was a Halaal Chef present. He accommodated my vegetarian dietary. needs. Also compliments to the staff from Banqueting who handled our event. They were outstanding. Hats off to Nompumelelo Mfeka, Thuthu Mbatha and Chef Precious Ngcongo for exceptional service, understanding our needs and good communication. - from Banqueting Department.
