Belle Isle Sur Risle

Belle Isle Sur Risle ★★★★

📍 112 Rte de Rouen, Pont-Audemer

"We were so looking forward to a 3 night stay at the mansion, including breakfast. The area was lovely and the surrounding so peaceful and so very French, which we loved. We had a room on the 4th floor which being over 21 was not an easy task carrying all our luggage ( no lift of course) The staff were very friendly and helpful. On a disappointing note , the room was very tired , it had staples holding some of the wall Paper up , the fan was broken and was taped together, the window was cracked in the bathroom and panels hanging off the bath, and generally could do with being looked after , which was a shame. Breakfast was fine, did not eat at the hotel , but the town was lovely and so were many surrounding villages . We enjoyed it but it could do with a little TLC. "

Ibis Styles Rouen Nord Barentin ★★★
"When I first arrived and eventually checked into this hotel, I considered it to be a disaster. My view improved by the time I checked out, but I would still not choose this hotel again, mainly because I usually travel with luggage and they have no elevator, or luggage trolleys. I do not find any fault with the staff. They were as helpful as they could be with the facilities they had to work with. I arrived after 0200h in the morning. I had expected the hotel to be in Barentin town centre. In fact it is in a "centre commercial". This is the french term for a shopping complex. Note that shops in these french centres are frequently open on Sundays. Prices in these shops usually compare favourably with town centres. I should have been aware that it was in a centre commercial, because it had a "route nationale" address, so the information was correct on the Accor website. When I actually arrived at the hotel, the next problem was locating the entrance door. The hotel building is a rather featureless cube. I had expected the entrance door to be directly adjacent to their illuminated green Ibis sign. It wasn't. The entrance door was on a different face of the hotel. The reason I could not find it was because it was in total darkness and hidden behind a row of bushes. Apparently an electrical fault had disabled the lights in the car park at the time I arrived. The next problem was that my room was on the 3rd floor, I travel with a lot of luggage, and the hotel had no elevator. I was about to give up and find somewhere else, but the girl offered to move me to a room on the ground floor. In view of the number of times I had disturbed her sleep, I would have felt very bad about going somewhere else after her efforts to be helpful. It should be noted that at least some of the staff here live on the property. The hotel closes at night, but key staff are expected to be "on call". I had already disturbed this girl's sleep at least 4 times. When reception is closed, access to the hotel is gained by a 4 digit code. There is also a code for the hotel's parking area, but in event of overspill there is no apparent problem using the parking lot of an adjacent property. The rooms are not much bigger than what you would expect a Red Ibis hotel, although they are much smarter. Breakfast is a similar standard to what you would expect at a Red Ibis. At the time of my visit, breakfast was included in the room price. Coffee taken was also included, although is unavailable when reception is closed. I suspect that this is a relatively new hotel, and the building was not designed as such. I expect that the problems (including the lack of an elevator) will be resolved over time, following which the free breakfast will probably be withdrawn. The fact that the hotel is in a commercial shopping complex is actually quite convenient. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are 2 "fast food" restaurants adjacent to the hotel. Fortunately fast food in France is"

Belle Isle Sur Risle ★★★★
"If you want to feel like you're in Louisiana under English rule, this is the place for you! For our wedding anniversary, we were upgraded, and we thank the hotel. We had a real adventure. Beautiful room with 19th-century furniture, but the bathroom lighting was insufficient. However, the bedside table light was too bright. Comfortable bedding. The safe didn't work without instructions, and one button didn't work (number 7 for room 29). The television didn't work, apparently due to a faulty connection. The small refrigerator in the room didn't cool. We ate at the restaurant the first evening and experienced a somewhat cumbersome process. You're greeted in a first lounge, which might tempt you to order an aperitif. Allow half an hour before your restaurant reservation. You can also move to a second, slightly more luxurious lounge, where you can browse the menu before ordering. As an aside, I ordered a beer, was told they were out, and when I got to my table, someone was already drinking one… Then we were finally shown to our table… a very nice table. A very good meal with excellent value for money. Starter, main course, dessert, and a bottle of wine for €180… for two. Our waiter, a former restaurateur, was very pleasant with some much-appreciated touches of humor. Thank you to him. We enjoyed the heated indoor and outdoor pools. As the refrigerator in the room wasn't cooling, we asked reception if it would be possible to store a cheese purchase from a local cheesemonger… to our surprise, upon our departure, our €75 cheese purchase had been put in the freezer… how is this possible? It was meant as a gift, so a complete loss. We emailed the hotel, but received no response four days later, not even an apology… It certainly doesn't deserve its 4 stars."

"We had a fabulous overnight stay here and were very well looked after by Phillipe and his family and team. If you have a special car and the sun appears, you can take some lovely photos in front of this grand house. There's a lovely pool, tennis court and some football goals. Inside a pool table, and table football. Phillipe is a lovely character who even leant us one of his old cars (we only had 2 seaters!!!) to drive to the nearest village for dinner!! Breakfast is a lovely informal affair. Can I say it's an immersive experience?"

"An okay hotel for a short stay. The room was basic, but clean and tidy, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Conveniently located, the atmosphere was calm, and the staff was friendly. Check-in went smoothly. A good option for a night or two, and we were left with a pleasant impression."

"I was able to relax and enjoy a quiet stay in a room with a bathtub. If you are planning to go to Monet's garden in Giverny and are staying in the Giverny area without going back to Paris, I think you will stay here. (The nearest station is Vernon Giverny, and you can take a shuttle bus from the station.) When making a reservation, it is better to check in advance whether the room has a bathtub (some rooms do not). I thought it would be nice to spend time in a provincial city in France. The room was clean, even for a Japanese person. Also, if you paid in advance with a numberless card, you need to take a screenshot of the card number in advance and show it at the reception."
