Arrived on 11.12.23 to check in for three nights only to find the place deserted. This hotel has been shut since the beginning of 2023 but is still trading online and taking peoples money! Avoid at all costs!

DO NOT STAY HERE - my partner and I, stayed here for a wedding. My wife is on a form of medication and needs a fridge, we checked with the hotel and it was all okay. As we came back from the wedding we had the medication and needed to put it in the fridge, there was no one at the desk. So we called the number and spoke to a man he was very rude on the phone. We explained the situation, we said we can’t stay if we can’t store the meds. He hung up and all of a sudden he came through the door he was very aggressive and snatched the medication out of my wife’s hands and starting swearing, threatening us and overall being aggressive. As we are two women alone there was no one around we was scared. He even said I don’t care about your medication! Really screaming at us. I understand we woke him up but we checked it was all okay beforehand. And I’m sure hotels need fridges for medication for their guests. There was no need to be so aggressive towards two women like that.

Lovely stay. Please ignore the bad reviews. The building is beautiful, all areas are very clean and the service is personal. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff- who possibly just need to have more confidence in their own abilities! Room was lovely- mention had been made of noise from the busy road but this wasn’t noticeable at all. Room service great, and no problem in getting a kettle when I asked for one. Breakfast was really nice. All in all great value and will definitely be staying again.

The building itself is what you would expect of an older building, the features are beautiful as is the decor. The bathrooms are clean, but the rest of the room is tired, old and very unclean. There was dust everywhere and even some old dog biscuits from the previous guests on the armchair. The room was in urgent need of an update, there was a lot of need for Repair, from the floor being dipped to the frames which were cracked and covered in dust The wallpaper was amazing though and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was the worst I have ever had at a hotel and the staff were so rude it was unbelievable, when she came to take my order, tutted at me as if I was a huge inconvenience so we did not have breakfast the second day at all. When I informed the manager, he seemed to completely ignore my feedback. In truth I would completely avoid this hotel at all costs, it is very poor and hugely overpriced for what you get!

Called in for drinks, barman said about to close but proceeded to serve us drinks, took our money, then was rude, disrespectful, a foul mouth pig, no customer service skills whatsoever, a vile creature

Very disappointed. I booked this for my daughter and her boyfriend as a birthday present. When I booked it the reviews were quite good, however it seems that this place has gone down hill dramatically since I booked it, I'm wondering if this place has changed hands since. My daughter said she arrived, and they went up to their room. The view from the window was a old static caravan. She then went to make a cup of tea but the machine was black with mold inside, decided they wouldn't have tea and ordered takeaway instead. She said there was constant noise from the room above night and day, and they were hoovering the hotel corridors at 3am which woke them up. They were told at check-in breakfast was between 8am and 10am. They arrived for breakfast at just after 8am but there was no one around doing breakfast, and no one they could see to ask. I said she probably got a lucky escape if the rest of their experience is anything to go by. She said the bedsheets were ripped and covered in holes, the shower released water from every part except the shower head, the carpet was stained and ripped and overall the hotel was run down and shabby. I don't know how they can happily take peoples money for this dump!
