Hotels near Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Brg in Vancouver

I spend 100 nights per year in just Hilton brands alone. I'm middle aged and not high maintenance. Additionally due to my industry/company I've been required to travel during the entire COVID nightmare. I totally understand the challenges and changes the pandemic brought to hotels and have a great deal of respect for the hospitality industry as a whole. This is my 4th time being a guest at this property and honestly there are no major issues. In general property, guest rooms, staff and location are all great! This is more a full-service hotel and a considerable step above your typical Hampton Inn format/experience. A few minor irritates: No shampoo in my room or at front desk. Was told they ran out? No loaner guest umbrellas. Was told they ran out? Limited breakfast hours and no to-go bagged breakfasts on the weekends? Regards to homeless/transient problem that plagues Portland. It's considerably better/cleaner around the hotel and Pearl district than just a year ago. I have no issues walking around by myself or concern about parking my car on the surrounding streets (except some park blocks are still dicey).

What I liked Best? Their bed (pillows and down comforter)! It is in our top 3 favorite beds of all time! My wife and I travel twice a year for the past 14 years and there was only 2 places where the bed was so comfortable, it made our trip. Hotel Rose just got added to the list. We usually are restless in a new place and don't sleep well, but this entire bed was like sleeping in the clouds. We truly miss that bed. The location: We have never been to Portland and was worried about what we've seen on the news. Yes, there are homeless but we weren't scared to walk to the Pearl district mall, Powell's Bookstore and the Saturday Market. They kept to themselves and there isn't a lot in the area. (I heard not to go to Chinatown, especially when it's dark) The Staff: Clarke at the front desk took good care of us. Richard at the bar was great. This isn't a big box hotel which made it more intimate and welcoming. The room was standard size. Very modern and very clean! If you are looking for a good location and a good nights rest, you have to stay(pineapple) at Hotel Rose.

The location is very good, centrally located, the best shopping in Portland is within one kilometer, very convenient

The rooms and promotional pictures and the actual reservations on the Internet are not a room type at all! We added 10 knives to the store to stay spacious! Other services are very good and feature!

Pretty good in every way

Room is spacious and clean. Front desk staff, Elizabeth, who is also Assistant GM, is very helpful and super kind. She tries to accommodate all our requests. Location is nice, near shopping center. Breakfast is very nice - per order at Bistro and not buffet style.

I honestly don't think I've ever had a worse or more disappointing hotel experience than the one I just had at River's Edge in Portland. From the outside, when I first arrived, I wasn't sure if the hotel was even open. It appeared to still be under construction. The only things visible from outside the entrance were construction debris and plastic tarp. I wouldn't have been surprised to find I had simply gone to the wrong place. However, the doors did automatically open as I approached, so I cautiously entered. I expected to be chased out by an angry construction worker. There was no lobby, to speak of. The check-in desk was essentially a folding card table with a computer, and a frazzled employee who seemed to be frustrated to have to work under such conditions, exhausted from having to make excuses for the position they had been put in. My room was supposed to have a balcony with a river view. Only, the windows and doors to the balcony were sealed off with more plastic sheeting. Not only could I not see the river, I couldn't even get onto the balcony. When I went to wash my hands, there was no hot water. I mentioned it twice to the person the ”front desk,” but there was still no hot water when I returned from an evening out. I called down again to inform them that I still didn't have hot water, and was told that someone would call me back shortly. They never did. Consequently, I was unable to shower the next morning. I had to tell the person at the the front desk, again, that there was no hot water on my way out for the day. We did end up having hot water when we returned that evening. I had been told that the construction that was taking place that had necessitated the plastic sheeting on my balcony would be taken down the next day, and that our balcony would be accessible, but that never happened. When we returned from one of our evenings out, the elevators stalled just as it reached our floor, and the doors only opened part way. We had to carefully exit sideways to fit through the gap, but we were worried that the doors might close on us as we did, or that the elevator might suddenly decide to go up or down before we got through. We were informed that our room would only be serviced if we requested, so it basically felt like we paying for a bed, a parking space, and nothing more. Our bill was $437.54 for two nights of feeling like we were trespassers at a construction site. This is not a place that anyone should pay any amount to stay at.

The room is fully equipped and the health service is good.

This hotel is in the perfect location. Very close to good restaurants (Indian & Italian), walking distance. Close to Target and CVS too. The Hotel in general is well maintained, modern and clean. In addition, the bedding is extremely comfortable and a well thought out room layout. I appreciated the mini fridge, ironing board and state of the art iron. These small details made my experience very pleasant. Also, the gym was very clean too. Highly recommended this hotel!
