Lisha Roungnakhone Hotel

This dilapidated, yellowed, decade-old air conditioner tormented me all night with its constant buzzing. It was either too hot without it or too noisy with it. This hotel is run by a Chinese owner and primarily caters to tour groups. I wouldn't recommend it for individual travelers – it's just too poor quality. The owner is also to blame; Lao people generally provide good service, but their management here is lacking, and the cleanliness is not up to par. Since the owner is so complacent, the staff naturally aren't attentive either. The hotel is falling apart and they don't bother with repairs. It's a shame because the exterior looks quite grand, and it even has an elevator. It wouldn't cost much to renovate and improve the management. Even if tour group members can't leave bad reviews, individual bookers certainly can. Staying at other small hotels or guesthouses run by Lao people, the service and cleanliness are far superior to this place.

The transportation is convenient, and you can take a tuk-tuk to get anywhere. Thanks to the hotel for arranging a shuttle to the high-speed rail station for us.

The location is incredibly convenient. The hotel is situated right by the Nam Song River in the city center, making it easy to access all the dining, entertainment, and activities. It's very close to where you can go hot air ballooning and tubing. The front desk staff was very thoughtful and gave us lots of helpful tips for getting around. The breakfast was also very authentic and delicious.

This is my top pick when visiting Vang Vieng. It's just a few hundred meters walk to a traditional massage parlor, and the shop right outside the hotel offers affordable and clean facials. I also experienced tubing on the Nam Song River, which was like a 'Mini Guilin' with beautiful scenery.
