Bor Garden Hotel

The location is about a 10-15 minute walk from the city center (night market area). While not far, the roads in Vang Vieng are mostly unpaved and sandy, so you'll accumulate a fair bit of dust walking to and from the night market. The hotel's overall service is excellent, whether it's basic cleaning or assistance with issues (they offer free shuttle service, and can help arrange hot air balloon rides and scooter rentals). Both Chinese and English are spoken, and there's a pool available for use. Overall, it's a great choice.

The door slamming was incredibly loud and annoying. I wonder which country those guests were from.

Ctrip actually rated this as 4 stars. The location is terrible. The room environment is worse than those in small towns in China. The washbasin is rickety. The air conditioner is broken and noisy and can't cool. There are cockroaches in the room. The bathroom is flooded. The breakfast is not free but it tastes terrible. I have never stayed in such a bad hotel.

The owner was very prompt in picking us up and dropping us off at the station. He was very generous and even offered to take us to the night market in the city for free. The hotel facilities were complete and the room was clean and tidy. The local barbecue at the night market was great! The environment was very ecological.
