When we arrived, we were informed in a very Germanic manner, that we were early and that the check-in was not until 3 o'clock. I had to ask if we could leave our luggage, as it was obviously not going to be offered.
We left the hotel and returned at 15:05 to a stern unwelcoming receptionist, who made the point rather loudly , that it was only 5 past 3. I asked if that was an issue and was told to 'wait there' until he had checked if our room was ready. There was nowhere to sit, as the 'services' team had placed their tools and towels and toilet rolls, on the only bench seat in the reception area. Not a good start to our stay.
On our first breakfast morning, after 30 minutes, we had received half filled coffee cups, a couple of croissants and a couple of dry bread rolls. No orange juice, no spreads, no cheese and ham, nothing. I only say this because the Italian guests around us, were into yoghurts, fresh fruit and cakes after already receiving what we missed out on above. My wife was close to tears and I had to demand some service. It was pointed out that under Covid rules, there was no self service and that I should just wait. We left.
The cleaning lady who prepared our room, left the windows open. 'In Venice' by the canal?? We were up most of the night dealing with mosquitoes. On our second night, we were prepared.
On occasions when I went to speak to reception, the receptionist was invariably doing 'stuff'. I had to stand and wait until it was my turn, after 'stuff'.
