On the first day of our ten day Mediterranean cruise we received a call from this hotel saying that their "Booking Agency" had made a mistake and double booked our room. I had intentionally booked the nicest and largest room available, the Double Superior with Lagoon View, with a large terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. Management told us that there was a much smaller room available, without a balcony, and that they had graciously switched us to that room. I asked how much less we would be charged for this room, as it was obviously inferior to the room I originally booked, SIX MONTHS before. I was told in no uncertain terms that we would be charged the SAME PRICE for the lesser room, but we WOULD be given a free bottle of chilled Prosecco on arrival as compensation. We were told our only other option was to cancel our reservation! We had no choice as everything in town was booked and we were going to have limited connectivity for the next 10 days. So basically we were overcharged at least 150 euros for an inferior room, but were given a $5 bottle of wine in exchange. In the US we probably would have had grounds for legal recourse but as it was we were just screwed. Take my advice and avoid this place like the plague.
