Canal Grande

Venice|0.1km from Ponte degli Scalzi
We arrived via Water taxi directly from the airport to the Canel Grande's private jetty and drinks balcony. If you can afford the €130 25 minutes journey, and are new to the city like us, it's amazing introduction. We felt quite the film stars! Our welcome was incredible. We got to the hotel very early - 9ish and our room wasn't ready, only to be expected. So we dropped our bags off and headed off to explore and get lost in Venice for the first and not the last time over the next 4 days we were there. Thank heavens for Google maps! Coming back around midday our room was still not ready, which gave us the opportunity to drink Aperol Spritz - the drink of Venice on the Hotels balcony while watching the water traffic on the Grand Canal by. Mesmerising... When our room was ready our baggage already there, along with a bottle of prosecco on ice, and hand written note wishing us a happy 35th wedding anniversary. We chose a room without a view which not only saved money, but made us go out and enjoy the city. The hotel has plenty of seating outside and in to enjoy the view anyway. It's is in a cul-de-sac, that makes it feel very private, as few people go down it. The room are in the Italianate Baroque style. Very clean and comfortable. The staff are impeccable, friendly, informed and helpful. It felt like a happy place to work. Note: Due to the small seating area inside, the excellent breakfast needs to be booked. The number 1 canal bus, a 3 minute walk from the hotel that takes you directly to San Marco Square. We only once asked for restaurant recommendation (La Patatina). This was the best of the best of meals we had in Venice. But at wine starting at €32 a bottle, expect a bill of around €110 for 2. From The Hotel is a marvel, we loved every moment were there. Over 3 days we walked over 25 miles, of this grand and historic city, saw great works of art in several museums and churches but missed much more. So, will we go back? Definitely. And Canal Hotel is where we will stay!

Staff is really friendly and the receptionist on the night shift helped us by giving choises to go to dinner that were really good. The hotel is cozy and really clean so we recomend to other people. Localization is really good since its nearby santa lucia train station 5 minutes walking ( you can take train there to other cities). The aerobus is also by 8 minutes walking (that leads you to the aeroport). Carolina Reis, from Portugal
Hotel Il Moro di Venezia

Budget hotel that’s close to the train station. Stayed here for a couple of nights for a weekend in Venice, and had a pleasant stay. It’s only a 5 minute walk from the station. There’s free breakfast provided that’s served by the hotel workers (light pastries and coffee/tea/juice). We had a Jack and Jill room that fit the four of us. There was one restroom and the shower was super small, but we made do. You can hear some of the ambient noises from outside, but earplugs help with that. There’s a 6 euro per person per night charge for the city tax that’s to be paid at the end of your stay. There is luggage storage at the front desk (which was open 24 hours).

We have stayed in this hotel and we were very good, two steps from the big channel to 20 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco . Very close to the station and the starting point of the buses to the airport, the very clean rooms, careful and friendly staff, abundant and varied breakfast.
NH Venezia Santa Lucia

Hotels situated close to large railway stations don't generally enjoy the greatest of reputations but this hotel certainly breaks the mould. Starting at the front desk (where else?), the professionalism with which this operation is run can be seen immediately. A warm welcome and despite arrival before midday, a room in readiness for us to drop off our luggage. Not a huge room but spotless - and I mean spotless enough to get approval from a senior officer of the grime police. No canal view but it's just outside the front door, if you come to Venice for that kind of thing. You cannot beat the convenience of the proximity to bus station (our arrival from the airport), vaporetto stop and the train station (our onward trip to Bologna). For what you pay for your stay here, you get value for money - not always something you associate with La Serenissima.

The location is very good, right next to the train station, and not far from the ferry terminal, you can take a boat to visit Venice. There are basically no roads in Venice, and boats are public transportation. Environmental services are also very good, breakfast is provided, but the space is a bit small.

It’s a decent stay there for one night stay, if you looking for something more modern then book at the train station before Sn Lucia. Venice is an old island so take that in mind when booking there and don’t expect not to have old walls or leaks or something as it’s an old hotel as all hotels in there are, they get really soaked when the water levels rise. Thank you Venice for the wonderful experience!
