The Wight Mouse Inn
"Very friendly staff, great food and comfortable room. Had a lovely holiday- would recommend 👌🏻"
The Royal Hotel
"Excellent service. Lots of friendly, helpful staff. Choice of menu options for both breakfast and dinner extensive and a la carte. Evening entertainment was a piano soloist and really lovely. Classic bedroom choice was very comfortable. The classic choice of room decor is slightly worn and facilities outdated but non the less charming."
No24 Ventnor
"Top Lavazza coffee ! Said from an Italian man in town. Pop in by chance in this very nice place close to the parking and the super friendly owner offer me a good espresso . He knows his stuff in football too and predicted 2 1 Vs Holland! C'mon England in Euro 2024. Emanuele "
The Hambrough
"We very rarely leave reviews but because our stay at The Hambrough was so good it deserves one. We had Rooms 1&2 with the balconies overlooking the harbour. One word for the hotel and staff which is excellent - location, service, breakfast, well stocked bar, cleanliness with good sized rooms. Numerous quality restaurants are nearby we recommend The Bistro & Basque Kitchen. The hotel also has a good deal with Red Funnel ferry for your car. No where would be better to stay when on the Island than The Hambrough."
The Chequers Inn
"My biggest disappointment on the Isle of Wight. I searched on the internet for the best carvery for a Sunday lunch and found the Chequers Inn at Rookley. Its claims to be the best and a range of reviews praising the quality and service going back several years plus positive comments on Open Table convinced me that this was the place to go. How wrong I was. The carvery looked promising but did not live up to expectations. The pork was overcooked and tough, the vegetables were totally overcooked and Yorkshire pudding was tough. To add to the general disappointment, it was all cold. I would certainly not recommend this place."
St Maur
"St Maur, a lovely B&B hotel in a quiet yet excellent location near Ventor Park, and just a few minutes walk down to the beach. The rooms were very clean, homely and cozy. Some come with a terrace and outdoor chairs and table. But what was remarkable were the size of the bathrooms. In all my travels, I don't think I've stayed in any place, where the bathroom was larger than the bedroom - it was unfeasibly large! The breakfast service, although only 45 minutes, was superb. Each dish was cooked to order and you could mix and match your items. A fresh, healthy and colourful fruit mix was available each morning. There was also a lovely looking garden. And a bar room which was very well stocked, not only with drinks, but games and music. David, the host, was most welcoming. In early evening, you can sometimes hear some nice tunes being played on the piano. And remember to ask him to book you discounted ferry travel. A really good find for us, enjoyed by both young and old."
The Lakes Rookley
"Pretty good, does the job, it’s a caravan init. Nice lake, nice ducks, and a powerhouse duo. Justified!"
Koala Cottage
"We had a wonderful stay at Koala Cottage over the weekend and couldn’t have been happier with our experience. Our room was spotless, beautifully presented, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location was peaceful and perfect for unwinding, while still being convenient for exploring the surrounding area. The attention to detail throughout the property was exceptional, and it felt warm, welcoming, and homely from the moment we arrived. The hosts, Shona and Amanda, were friendly, helpful, and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and left feeling refreshed and relaxed. We would highly recommend Koala Cottage to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable getaway, and we would love to return in the future. Five stars all round!"
Lisle Combe
"One of the best b & bs we've ever stayed in, tucked away in lovely grounds about a mile and a half from Ventnor, close to the Botanic Garden. You can walk through the vast garden to the coastal path and also down to a small cove. The house is huge but has only three b & b bedrooms, all beautifully fitted out. The guests lounge and dining room are large and you felt as though you were in a stately home! Robert and Ruth were the perfect hosts, always on hand for advice about the area and help out with any problems, you almost felt like one of the family. The breakfasts were lovely and you had a wide choice to choose from, no need for much lunch! Recommend the Spyglass Inn for food at night, no bookings taken, the Bonchurch Inn for great Italian food, The Bistro and La Cantina in Ventnor, booking advisable. We were lucky with the weather and visited Mottistone Gardens, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle, our favourites. For a peaceful place to stay at with perfect hosts and great rooms you won't find any better on the Isle of Wight."
