Hotel Viareggio

The hotel was a suitable base for our 4 nights in Viareggio - the free parking was a great addition and our room was clean, well air conditioned with all amenities working and doing the job just fine and comfortable bed. Our balcony was large, albeit over looking the back bin area (they could do with a cover on their bins which were full to the brim in hot weather for our whole stay). The staff member who checked us in (Steve?) was extremely pleasant, welcoming and informative and we were very thankful for the warm welcome :) We didn't include breakfast however the bar staff remembered our order every day and always served with a kind smile and helpful information! The location is great, perhaps 5 minutes walking (we are quick walkers!) to the promenade and close to the Free-beach access and plenty of restaurants.....Unfortunately there was a major issue on our last night, as there is a dark wooded park next to the hotel and we experienced harassment by a naked man, who stood outside the back of the hotel watching our balconies whilst touching himself sexually. This was extremely scary, and it seems the staff do know about this issue and it has happened before. We informed the reception staff member who was kind, but confirmed thew knew of this issue. This makes me wary as the hotel feels targeted and the police did not show up (i am not sure if they were called). If this had been the 1st night, we would have left the hotel. We did eventually ask to move rooms, after feeling unsafe (the back door to the hotel is open for anyone it seems) and the staff immediately assisted and moved us to a room elsewhere facing the front main road away from this 'stalker'. However, I urge hotel management to do more to help their guests to feel safe, and help their staff to manage this situation. Surely the local police can help with this, as we are at the mercy of the hotel safeguarding / security. It is a shame this happened, and whilst the staff were helpful, it felt too 'normal' to them for my liking so i would like to warn others. Avoid the back facing, lower rooms by the park if you can and be very wary of your privacy and safety. A bad ending to an otherwise lovely stay and very suitable hotel.

HOTEL DA INCUBO sono stata in questo hotel per una notte ed è stata un'esperienza psicadelica. Check in durato 40 minuti con una receptionist lentissima, confusa e appanicata, nella hall non c'era aria condizionata quindi sono stati 40 minuti di terrore ...nella camera delle mie nipoti c'erano capelli nella doccia e peli, mancava l'acqua calda nelle docce, e c'erano addette alle pulizie chiassose e che piangevano nei corridoi.. mi sembrava di essere su Scherzi a Parte. Allucinante

This hotel was a disappointment from the start. Unable to get through on the phone for days when trying to book. Booked through the website with a comment that we were travelling with two small dogs. We have stayed in many Mercure hotels and this one does not compare. The beds like concrete! Mentioned in many reviews the light switches in the rooms sticky and dirty. The beds in an Ibis budget are far better than these. There are no facilities during the day after breakfast. The bar only opens at night. The furniture on the balcony is old with paint falling off. The towel radiator was old and rusty and no drink making facilities in the room. No kettle etc. This was not a cheap hotel with the booking costing 380€ for 4 nights. You expect better for this money and from this brand. There are many things I could continue about the place. The staff work hard but only look after certain guests. There was three tables sat outside drinking from the bar. Two with Italians one was my wife and I. The two tables were given nibbles to eat at the tables while we watched but nothing was brought to us. I normally leave a tip to the room cleaners but the cost for the dogs per night meant that I could not allow myself to. The dogs cost an extra 50€ PER NIGHT!!! For what. L?? There was no extra mess or cleaning. They say pet friendly but with this price they try to remove people to take pets. We are responsible dog owners and ALWAYS clean up after our dogs but again no trash bins for the waste anywhere. So other owners don’t even try to clean up!! The grass around the hotel is used for a a dog toilet by any other owners crazy enough to pay the cost for them in the hotel!! 200€ for two small dogs for 4 nights. Is a crime. The hotel does not want dog owners obviously The only positive is the location

Don't let the photos fool you, the breakfast isn't bad but try to get I 1 minute befor 7 and you got no chance, the room lighting is shocking everyone of my colleagues complained, beds are terrible thin and uncomfortable, We all had to ask for additional bedding as I was like sleeping under a piece of toilet paper, virtually no where for storage of clothing if on a long trip, We were stay in Massa but very busy and had to travel 40 minutes and this is the only place with rooms??

Very difficult in reviewing this hotel, as in that we really enjoyed it but also found it quite odd. First off- it’s not really promoted anywhere, has different names, lack of reviews and we wasn’t even sure we had the right hotel when we found it. The staff are quiet, not that informative and it’s like this hotel is in the middle of nowhere - when in fact it is in a prime spot, 5 mins from the beach. The hotel is very clean, modern and has excellent air con- which was pleasing after a few hot days in other parts of Italy. Room is small but has good wardrobe space, a very clean bathroom and excellent shower. It is situated across the road from a river, which has interesting types of wildlife. We had breakfast one day, €13 a person, which was quite steep, we also had coffee one morning. Apart from that the bar is closed, there is no shop and the pool is also closed. The location as mentioned is good, it is recommended that the town to the right of Viagreggio is nearer, 5 min walk and has some very good restaurant and bar options. There is a CoOp 5 mins away. The hotel also does not have a partnership with any beaches, which is a shame. It is 10 mins in a taxi from the train station and we got the bus going home. Overall with a bit of confidence and promotion, this would be a fantastic hotel, however I’m not sure it intends to be that. Despite that we enjoyed our stay
