Top-notch hotel, really beautiful with excellent facilities. The spa is fantastic, and so is the breakfast. Everything was 5-star.

Vidago Palace Hotel is very easy to access by expressways. The service is impeccable, and the rooms are large and well-renovated. The hotel has a beautiful balcony and pretty gardens. The dinner there had a good choice of food, and the wine list is pretty extensive, and expensive. Worth a visit even if is not cheap for Portuguse standars.

A five-star hotel with a blatant mismatch between its pricing logic and actual experience – a disappointing experience, not recommended! I chose the Vidago Palace Hotel based on its five-star positioning and historical reputation. However, as a frequent guest of five-star hotels worldwide, this stay was significantly below expectations. The core issue lies in the severe mismatch between the pricing logic for the infrastructure and the actual services offered. First, the spa and so-called "thermal experience" completely fail to meet five-star standards. The hotel charges guests an extra €10 per day for adults and €5 for children, initially assuming it was for access to the thermal baths or full-fledged spa facilities. However, upon entering, I discovered it only included a small indoor pool and an even smaller outdoor thermal pool; there were no other amenities, and the overall scale and content were extremely limited. Even more disappointing was the fact that the so-called "thermal pool water temperature was noticeably low," far from meeting the standards for comfortable soaking. We had to leave the indoor pool after less than half an hour, and the outdoor pool was practically unusable given the day's temperatures, especially for families, posing a risk of getting too cold. The water temperature and experience are hardly befitting of a "hot spring." Furthermore, the heated swimming pool and gym require additional payment. In international five-star hotel systems, these are typically basic amenities, not separately charged items. Given the current scale of the facilities, water temperature control, and actual experience, charging separately seems unconvincing; the overall impression is that basic infrastructure is being sold off separately, which contradicts the service logic expected of a five-star hotel. Secondly, the room's hardware details significantly lower the overall standard. The hairdryer in the room requires continuous pressing to operate. This feature is more common in budget or economy hotels, yet its presence in a room positioned as a high-end resort hotel is perplexing. For a five-star hotel, it is precisely these basic hardware details that best reflect its true level. The dining was one of the few relatively satisfactory aspects of the stay. The main restaurant and lobby bar offered acceptable quality; the dishes were consistently well-prepared and flavorful, at least meeting the expected standard for dining experience. Overall, this is a hotel with a strong external presence and historical feel, but its actual stay experience, infrastructure, and pricing strategy clearly fail to live up to its five-star positioning. At the current price and standards, guests accustomed to international five-star hotel services will experience a noticeable sense of disappointment.

Very nice hotel, quiet. The breakfast is varied but the dinner table leaves something to be desired. Expensive for what it is, not worthy of a so-called great chef's restaurant....
