Hotel Pension Baron am Schottentor

Absolutely diabolical. Rooms unclean and tiny , very dated practically falling apart. Reception is depressing and dismal everything is dim dark lighting and furniture is falling apart dirty carpets upon entrance and throughout. Dining area is laughable chairs falling apart and food left out in the same place for days. No reception staff to speak to as they only work between 9-5 although it is advertised they work until 7. When you do get a chance to speak to them they’re rude , dismissive , particular man named Alex could do with a course in customer service and how to communicate with guests. Our taxi was more expensive then they originally quoted and the didn’t even know they’d ordered us a taxi or that we’d been collected total lack of communication. Silver fish insects on the floor in bathroom that stunk anyways and then we put the extractor fan on to take a shower wow the dust coming out of it I find it hard to believe these rooms are cleaned at all or to any standard. Check in is impossible with near to no guidance and then you’re greeted with a lift that doesn’t even work , we were stuck inside of it for about 20 minutes which didn’t seem to phase the hotel staff. Spent the majority of the holiday looking for new accommodation to actually move to as we were so dissappointed. Avoid at all costs.

Very good location Friendly extremely staff, albeit quite overworked. This made it a bit difficult to get boiling hot water for breakfast tea, if guests were allowed to brew their own tea it would be easier and more effective. Nice complimentary afternoon tea. Extremely comfortable and well maintained rooms. Given the quality and the location reasonable prices. Luckily a non smoker hotel.
Hotel Strudlhof Vienna

We arrived hours early and our room had not been cleaned but the staff kept our luggage in a secure place and said the room would be ready well before the usual check-in time. Our room was large with a view over Pasteurgasse, very comfortable and with the toilet separate from the shower/bath - a great idea. The hotel is in a great location - the front entrance leads down to tram D (for Ringstrasse and Schottentor) about a 5 minute walk, whilst a similar distance from the back entrance is Waehringer Strasse with a tram roughly every 2 minutes to the Schottentor transport hub which is about 3 minutes away by tram. We chose not to have breakfast but there is a good selection of cafes and bakeries a 5 minute walk away near the tram stops on Waehringer Strasse. The area is very comfortable, pleasant and safe, and houses a couple of embassies as well as university departments. There is access to the roof terrace for beautiful views across Vienna. This was a very pleasant stay and, as ever, it is the staff who make the establishment a success - Vielen Dank.

The subway station has been in the past for about 10 minutes and has a good location. The interior is elegantly decorated, antique, and an old European elevator. The decoration in the house is very new, not as small as I imagined. It is not bad in Europe, enough to live. Many foreigners, breakfast is very good, cost-effective, it is recommended!
Hotel Mozart

The front desk staff is very welcoming, the service is good, the room facilities are a bit old, but the price is there, and the price is reasonable. The breakfast provided by the hotel is a general continental breakfast. The key is the excellent geographical environment and convenient transportation. There is U-Bahn line 4 at 3 and 4 minutes. The hotel is opposite the öbb station, which is very convenient. There are supermarkets Spar, Hofer nearby, as well as a McDonald's, Japanese, Korean, nearby. There is parking at the entrance Space for parking.
Riess City Hotel - Self Check-IN

Very basic. Clean and comfortable but definitely not luxury by any means, it felt like we were staying in student accommodation or a private room in a hostel. The area is quiet and fairly central which reflects in the price. Our double bed was next to the wall, we had no bedside tables or bedside lamps, the position of the bed was awkward and we had to crawl to get on and off - not good for those with mobility issues. The room is up two flights of stairs with no lift, so be prepared to carry your suitcase. There is a basic shower room with toiletries, and a coffee machine and croissants in the room were a nice touch. There's a nice sized fridge in the room, also. The laundry room is very convenient with a washer and dryer and ironing board, and the kitchen is well equipped. Self check-in was easy, but be careful because the room doors lock on you when you go into the corridor. We locked ourselves out of the room and had to phone the manager. The manager called housekeeping and someone came very promptly which we were very thankful for. The place seems well managed and very safe with lots of solo travellers and women staying alone. We are rating 3 stars purely due to the basic level of accommodation, but would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone looking for somewhere safe to stay in a convenient location on a tight budget.
