It’s a bit of a hike from the town - although a short cab journey - but I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I visited again. I had planned to stay three nights at Forte de Sao Francisco, but was so disappointed with it, I ended up switching here. And it was a gamble that paid off. Gorgeous, huge room - modern and clean, with a properly stocked minibar, spectacular bathroom, spacious balcony and beautiful views. I had a room at the back overlooking the mountains, which was wonderful in daylight but a bit lost in the dark. If you want an interesting nighttime vista, probably best to stay in a room at the front with views of the city in the distance – at least you’d get some twinkling lights. Two fabulous pools, good breakfast and just the loveliest staff. And set in expansive, picturesque grounds that could surely be turned into a golf course – much needed in these parts and bound to attract more guests. Overall, a great escape!

The property is beautiful and the staff are very attentive. Only downside is the lighting was poor and they don’t allow ironing in the room.

Business investment on the hill with great views.
Spa area (free for guests) is nice, Sauna was hot.
Breakfast was much low value in my eyes: they are using 2024 self baked rolls (Lidl, Makro?) though Portugal has such a tradition with bakeries. Saving every penny here? Coffee as usual from vending machine under average.
Hotel is on top of the hill with evening and morning sun, the area seems to be bit rotten, as some parkings are blocked (there was more potential business expected when they planned the area).
I think the rates between 100-130€ for double are by far too much for the isolated town of Chaves close to spanish border. Rooms are from 2007 (planned 2003 so 20 years old design), bit old fashioned dark wooden 4* style.
Small alibi flat screen TV (they want you to gamble....)
indoor pool is also used by local services (swimming school), could be kept bit more clean (plastic stuff at borders)

The hotel was excellent. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. The pool area is nice and plenty of sun beds. I used the spa and Sonia was a fantastic masseuse. The food in the hotel really tasty - dinner and breakfast. The only reason I didn’t give this a five rating was that the balcony floor in our room is dangerous. The spacing in the decking is too wide and the chair I was on fell though the gap - giving me a nasty bruise. The hotel staff responded very quickly to repair the floor but not interested in my well being

Currently staying for 2 nights for my birthday weekend. Hotel is super modern. Some signs and wear and tear. Very clean and staff nice. House staff really friendly. Had dinner last evening in-house resturant. Wasn't blown away, quality let it down. Waitress didn't take the order correctly. But that was a good thing. For quality of food it was expensive at €76 for 2 people, and the steak was so tough. Very bad. Chaves itself is super pretty. Would stay at hotel again but not use in-house resturant for more than breakfast.
