Wonderful resort. 18 cabanas. All have private plunge pool. Very rustic. AC doesn't really work - just rely on fan - you can ask for an extra fan if needed. Open concept palapa roof so geckos come in and out - it's ok - they don't cause humans any harm. Sandy trails so if you are not good with walking, this is not your place. On the road, there are many places to visit: other hotels, restaurants and art galleries. Food at the hotel is very good. Service is spotty. Use WhatsApp to communicate with front desk for all needs. Spa services were good. We did have an unexpected scorpion come into the bathroom - luckily there vs the bedroom because it was easy to see on the concrete bathroom floor. Just always wear flip flops.

This hotel is a pure dream. The design is beautiful and thoughtful. The location is perfectly central. The rooms are bright, super clean spacious and comfortable. Above all, the staff is incredible. From the moment you walk in the door you are in another world. We didn't want to leave!

Hotel Escondido needs some serious Management review . We stayed there over the new Year and must say the regular staff is very nice. But checking in and checking out is a mess . The whole front desk is a mess . Every time you would need something please brace yourself. There is no general management that proper trained people. Just very scattered. The beach is super nice and quiet. Food and beverage very slow and just okay. I really believe if the staff get some structure and training program in place it’s a good place because they do care .

This hotel is an excellent example of the beauty and peacefulness of this area. The hotel takes extra care with everything it does and we have visited in years past and you can see they have made improvements in guest services, hotel room decor and quality of experience. The food, the omakase, casa Wabi are all incredible experiences and you should explore all of them if you’re lucky enough to stay at this lovely hotel. Bring bug spray. Otherwise they provide nearly everything you would need to enjoy your stay.

This was my second trip to hotel Escondido, first time in 2017. Things have declined in my opinion. Service was super slow, took 1.5 hours to get a drink at the beach. My wife had a massage appointment and didn’t get her drink in time, I mentioned to manager but they still charged for the drink. AC doesn’t really do anything, asked for a fan late at night because it was too hot. They brought us a fan that didn’t work. Doors are super hard to open and close in the rooms. I remember the food being incredible but this time was just mediocre. The plunge pool in the room is really nice, but was not cleaned daily, so many leaves accumulated. The road getting in takes about 30 minutes and is very bumpy and uncomfortable. Sadly was probably the last time.

I agree with so many other reviews. This place is overpriced. We never felt welcomed or looked after by the staff. It is self-service here - if you want a drink or a lounge chair mattress at the pool you need to wander around and find someone. There is quite a language difficulty for example I ordered an English Breakfast tea with milk and was given a camomile tea with honey. At no stage did the staff engage with us and recommend activities etc and we were never told about the Japanese restaurant being a dinner option. We did the half board package and the dinners were extremely disappointing with just 2 options for each course. One night we were the only table in the restaurant which made for poor atmosphere! The pool is beautiful and the cocktails are nice. This hotel is VERY remote. 45m in a tax to the town (which is worth a visit).

The hotel has three great ingredients: small, hard to get to (dirty road for 20 min from main road) and (beach) luxurious. Don’t believe the bad service reviews: the staff is great: dedicated, fun and very sweet. Still the pace of service is Mexican which does invite the wise to relax! The hotel is overdue a refurbishment but in a shabby chic way! We had an amazing time swimming in the pool while looking at the pristine and wild sea (no swimming in the warm sea - dangerous). Food was very good! It is a little piece of paradise!

We stayed there in May of 2023. TERRIBLE ! One bad experience after the other. Let me start by saying that it has been one of the most expensive hotels i've ever stayed in Mexico ($650 a night). To put things in perspective, i visit Los Cabos at least 2-3 times a year and i've stayed in very high-end resorts there and other places in the country. That being said, let me get started... When we checked-in they insisted to CHARGE (not hold) about $3,000 usd to my Credit Card for incidentals. If not needed they would "be reimbursed to my CC 20-30 business days later"!!!!! I went to the restroom and to my surprise there's no water to wash my hands, i asked to enter the ladies restroom and was told to try the one at the spa. No luck. After i insisted they finally let me go into the ladies room just to find out there was no water there either. So finally they decided to provide me with a bucket of water to wash my hands. That's not what you would expect from a $650-a-night "hotel" but i figure it was just an unlucky moment. Our room was not ready at the time of check-in so we went to the restaurant to eat something, then got change in the bathroom and headed to the pool. The beach of the hotel has a red flag most of the year (if not all year) so you can't risk getting into the Ocean... too rough and dangerous. At the pool we found out there's only one bartender and ONE server attending the tables at the restaurant, the lounge chairs at the pool and the lounge chairs at the beach. So we had to wait between 40 minutes and 1 hour every time we needed to order anything from them. Same time frame to wait for him to bring the order. Temperatures fluctuated between 90-100 so all cocktails and iced drinks arrived melted down and diluted. After the first couple of attempts to drink something we just opted to order a bottle of Mezcal so we didn't have to be ordering individual drinks and wait so long for them. Finally the room was ready... the AC was NOT WORKING!!! I called the Front Desk to say that was unacceptable and they claim both, the water in the bathroom and the AC were due to a loss of power from the night before so their emergency generator only provided power for the basic needs. Again, not what you would expect from a $650-a-night. They never fixed the AC and the temperature was unbearable so they ended up sending cooling towers to the room, which made it as noisy as you can imagine. Both the noise and the heat made it very difficult to enjoy a good night sleep. The room has hand-made wooden sliding doors that don't shut completely so we had a few lizards, spiders and other insects inside the room. Based on our experience, if the room was $50 a night, i would still not go back to that place.

Hotel Escondido is really really amazing but unfortunately we had money stolen from our room around $200 usd which isn't much but should never have happened in the first place. Front desk staff are not fluent in English and while we tried our best to speak in Spanish, the language barrier was tricky. We're covered in mosquito bites and the AC is mediocre.
