Toyoko Inn Jr Wakayama Eki Higashi Guchi

The room was small and the service was poor. I had clearly stated when booking that I didn't want a top-floor room, but they still insisted on giving me one at check-in, saying it was the only room available. When we asked to cancel the booking, they told us that if we didn't stay, we wouldn't get a refund. After strong negotiation, they finally gave us a room of the same type next door. I just want to know, why deliberately make things difficult for customers?

The hotel's location is about a block from the station, which isn't far. The cleanliness and facilities in the room were well-maintained. Service was mostly self-service, which was quite convenient. Breakfast was pretty standard; there's a deli on the basement level of the department store next to the station where you can buy late-night snacks and breakfast for the next day. But for this price, it's still a good deal.

Free breakfast was provided, but there's room for improvement in the details. The pillows were a bit uncomfortable and too high. Also, the curtains weren't floor-length, which meant light leaked in early in the morning and disrupted my sleep. On the plus side, it's very close to JR Wakayama Station, but I feel like staying near Wakayama Castle might be a better option.

Whenever I go to Japan, Toyoko Inn is always my top choice. The included breakfast makes it incredibly good value for money. Looking forward to my next stay!
