Thank you for an amazing stay. Absolutely stunning and very private. Keith, the lodge manager, runs a very tight ship and his staff is extremely nice and helpful. The room, the food, and the surroundings were simply beautiful. Best place to stay to visit Sandwich harbor, one of the most beautiful coastline in the world. A memorable stay! Merci beaucoup!

Pelican Point Lodge is a place where beautiful magic happens. The staff are incredibly friendly. Nothing is too much. The suites are impeccable and arranged like any 5 star accommodation with the exception of the most beautiful view - The Ocean. Now you have to be aware that one of the most exciting things about the hotel is the location. If you or your wife are scared easily perhaps ask the escort to pick you up but if you are game, then it is awesome! You first drive over a narrow dam past a pink lake for a few km with thousands of flamingo's on both sides. Then you arrive at the seaside which is one big ca 200 mtr wide sand*****. No road, just tracks. Deflate your tyres before driving there! The approx 10 km trip over the sand will take you past one of the most famous surf beaches in the world before you then arrive at the hotel. Thousands of seals live on the beach *****. The food is soso, the electricity is turned off at 11 pm until 6 am and wifi is a nightmare but that makes it all the more exciting. Namibia as a country is already magical but Pelican Point Lodge is the cherry on the cake. What an adventure!

We returned to the Captain’s Cove at Pelican point after 6 years and it was again fabulous. Magnificent location and a special atmosphere. Not for those who need every pampering mod con but if you want to stay somewhere unique, beautiful and magnificent then go there. Very good food, helpful and friendly staff, feels like you are at the edge of the world. Yes there is electricity only part of the day, yes it is not easy to get to, yes there is no luxury spa but none of that matters. Highly recommended for people seeking somewhere definitely not run of the mill

We stayed two days at Pelikan Point Lodge and our experience was definitely not positive. On the bright side : a) the location is indeed special. Remote, wild and overall fascinating although somewhat spoilt on one side of the bay by the constant and uninspiring passing and stationing of huge oil and commercial vessels; b) friendliness and nice attitude of the manager and staff; c) good quality and nice presentation of the food; d) the kayak trip among the seals offered by the lidge which was really awesome. On the negative front were a) the rooms (we got two, the seal and the dolphin) which are unwelcoming, badly maintained and extremely basic. They are made in cement and bricks with no hardwood floor and tiles, mediocre furniture and no attention at all to design and comfort. In particular what was unacceptable to us was :b) the open toilets (very bad idea!) c) the absence of supply of electricity for extended parts of the day and during the night; d) the smell of sewer in the dolphin room; e) the absence of a heating and air conditioning system. We were there in Winter and in the evening it was freezing cold and we felt extremely uncomfortable and eventually all the three of us caught a cold. The seal room has a very primitive heating system (which was provided upon our request also in the dolphin room) with inflammable liquid lit by the staff which is however totally ineffective. Moreover it doesn’t last long and leaves behind a bad smell of kerosene. This huge inconvenience is clearly seasonal but we assume that an opposite problem may occur in Summer with high temperatures. Moreover quite disappointing were f) the wifi system which is extremely slow and doesn’t allow any decent internet connection; g) the hot water supply which is very limited and doesn’t two showers in a raw.

Pelican Point Lodge is located in an incredible location and the staff are absolutely amazing! The views from the lodge are breathtaking on a clear day, and the number of seals is crazy! The one drawback of the lodge is the water supply! During our stay, the water was inconsistent (making showers difficult) and hot water was very limited!

We loved Pelican Point’s location and the unique beauty of the area. It was wonderful seeing so many birds (especially flamingoes), jackals and seals! You can kayak with the seals, but we didn’t want to because we got SO close to them on the old lighthouse supply dock! We also enjoyed our peninsula drive, and it made a great starting point for our Sandwich Harbor tour. The staff is so anxious to please … there was a tiny glitch or two communication-wise, but when the manager arrived he helped us figure things out. The lodge was clean- and the decor fit the starkness of the surroundings. The rooms had a “minimalist” appeal which truly blended well with the unusual environment. We already knew about the generator and water, so no surprises and we worked everything out according to their times. In fact, they offered to turn the hot water on for me because I wanted to take a shower at a time when it wasn’t on. It was COLD when we were there so we really appreciated the night-time hot-water bottles. The food was simple, but yummy and there was so much I had to skip courses! I especially enjoyed their soups.

The positives of the place was the location.... really beautiful,  wonderful birds and other wild life. We very much enjoyed kayaking with the seals and on the food front, the oysters were amazing.  Sadly,  there are many negatives: Communication with the lodge was terrible. Despite phoning the day before we left (we initially had to phone a number in United Arab Emirates, Dubai... and they knew nothing about the arrangements, but they gave us the direct number for the lodge). We eventually talked to the lodge manager,  who told us we would be met at the airport and escorted to the lodge, and then escorted back on our last day after a boat trip, which contradicted what your company had set out for us.  Anyway,  there was no one at the airport when we arrived on time, and no answer at the lodge on the phone! So we drove to Walvis Bay and eventually managed to reach the lodge,  and they then sent out a 4 wheel drive car to escort us in. On arrival,  the staff were friendly but the lodge itself is poorly maintained. The corridors smell of sewerage and the room,  although nice in appearance,  was very run down with corroded sliding doors and broken and rusted loungers on the balcony. There was no fan or aircon and leaving the door open just filled the room with flies. Rather bizarrely,  the staff only turned the generator on from 6am to 9am and then 6pm to 10pm. This would have been fine but they often forgot to turn it on and turn the water on,  and as a result, we did not have a hot shower during our entire stay.  There is as yet no load shedding in Namibia!  The food standard was poor and at breakfast there seemed to be a lack of supplies ie. Not enough fruit and no butter, even though only 4 guests were staying at the time. The wine selection looked good but all of our wine requests weren't possible as they were out of stock,  forcing us to purchase the most expensive wines.  There was no clarity about activities and no discussions or planning prior to doing them, almost as if no one was really in charge of the situation.  There was clearly a skeleton staff on at the lodge and universally the training of these individuals was poor although they were very nice well-meaning people. Overall,  the place was shabby and shambolic,  run down and poorly managed but it is very expensive in price and that is unfair.

WORST PLACE EVER! No where does is say on a website nor outside the lodge that it is private. We called in advance and asked if they are open, we were told yes and that we can come over. No one wants to take responsibility or own up to their actions. We get there just to be treated like rubbish. I am 38 weeks pregnant, in need of the restroom but they turn me away like it is nothing to them. Useless, disgraceful piece of crap place! Never ever recommend this place to anyone. I feel sorry for your guests! Do you treat them like this?
