This property is set in an exquisite valley and has very pretty grounds. The dining room, as others note, has a big bay window. There are some very kind staff, such as the day receptionist, who was such a gentle, helpful man. We found the WiFi very slow but better than other travelers before us. The big issue is that the hotel is in absolutely terrible physical condition. I can't emphasise enough how decrepit it is. Our bathroom was from the 1960s, it seemed, with disgusting peeling paint in large patches from ceiling to sink. The wall sconces are dangling. The sink fixtures are rattling on their washers. To make a king bed, the staff pushed two twins together, not a huge deal, but surely not truth-in-advertising. The room was cold, and my husband had to make a fire in the middle of the night because the heating unit didn't create enough warmth (this was in April, not the dead of winter). The food was fair. The hotel seems to have a monopoly so there may be little incentive for owners to improve it, which is a real pity and a disservice to travelers and to this marvelous country's goal to build a tourism sector. We are sensitive to the challenges facing a developing country such as Bhutan, but there is no absolutely excuse for the condition of this hotel in 2025. We recommend visiting this area but staying elsewhere.
