Wangdue Ecolodge ★★★★
"When we visited Punakha and Phobjikha valley, got the chance to stay here. It is a property which is out of town and very silent place to be at. Gives you a feeling of a farm and the view looks really nice in the morning and afternoon but night is very sad. The team of wangdue ecolodge is sweet and supportive. I recommend if you are coming with a group then definitely a great place to be at. The food is nice but should work on the lights more and it will be a great property."
Punatsangchhu Cottages ★★★
"This hotel, located on the banks of the Punakha River in Bhutan, is more like a homestay than a five-star hotel. It's clean and new, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms lack air conditioning, but some have balconies. Dinner is a buffet with limited options, including a salad, rice, noodles, a meat dish, several vegetable dishes, and a dessert."
Zhingkham Resort ★★★
"This is a brand-new, 'luxury' hotel in Punakha. It looks very fresh, but lacks character. A big drawback is that the rooms are up the hillside and the only way to get from the rooms to the dining room, for example is via stairs. Lots of them. After a day of hiking, this is not really enjoyable. My room was incomplete for lack of a better term. There was no decor on the walls save one photo of a yak. Just bare white. The furniture was Ikea-style with a single throw carpet and portable heater. The rooms are also not well soundproofed, expecially the sliding doors heading to the balcony. The views from the balcony were the best part of the whole stay. Just stunning, overlooking the Punakha Valley. The included dinner and breakfast were disappointing as well--just buffets with stale, cold food. Very unimpressed."
