Our experience at G-Hotel in Kiel was disappointing, mainly due to their handling of dietary requests. The accommodation itself was fine—the room was clean and comfortable, and our overall stay would have been okay if not for the breakfast issue. We had emailed the hotel before our stay to inform them that we needed a gluten-free breakfast. Upon arrival, we reminded the receptionist, who assured us it would not be a problem. However, the next morning, there was no gluten-free bread available. We waited patiently, assuming it was being prepared. After almost an hour, we reminded the staff again, and only then did they check with the kitchen. The staff member apologized and followed up, but when she returned, she simply said, “Oh, we’re making it now for you.” That’s when we realized—they hadn’t even started preparing it until we reminded them a second time! At that point, we were beyond frustrated. Knowing we would now have to wait even longer, we decided to leave, feeling extremely disappointed and upset. This level of disorganization and lack of consideration was unacceptable, especially since we had informed them well in advance. If you have dietary restrictions, be prepared for poor communication and a lack of preparation. While the accommodation itself was fine, this experience left a bad impression, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone needing reliable service for special food requests.

Very pleasant hotel a few km from the cruise port. No elevator, which is why I'm removing one star. Large rooms. Clean. Friendly staff. Car parking service for cruise passengers. Breakfast normal.

Nice service at reception, very good parking facilities, the university can be reached on foot. The hotel is easy to reach by car via the main road. Recommended for business or weekend stays. I wouldn't want to spend a vacation there.

We chose this hotel as the starting and finishing point for our multi-day bike tour along the Kiel Canal. The hotel is very conveniently located for this bike tour. The hotel also has a lockable and sufficiently large bike room so that the bikes could be safely stored. The service both at reception and at breakfast is excellent, always very friendly. The caretaker is also top-notch and was able to help us with a tool we needed at short notice. The room is spacious and - we had a room facing the garden - really nice and quiet. In the evening you can sit in the cosy garden and the small bar has a small but very good selection of drinks. The two excursions from here at the beginning and end of the day are also very easy to do from here, as the right bus to the viewing point of the Kiel South Bank lock and to the ferry to the North Bank leaves and arrives very close by. Overall, we can highly recommend the hotel.

Very friendly staff. Rooms are large and quiet, although the TV is a bit small. There are plenty of parking spaces. Breakfast was good and there was a lot of choice, but the chairs were very loud. The hotel is outside of Kiel but easy to get to.
