Travelodge Hotel - Warminster ★★★

"As many recent reviewers have noted, this Travelodge location is clean, comfortable and appears to have been recently renovated. It has plenty of parking (ignore the signs to the contrary – the parking is free and unlimited). It’s a great, budget-friendly option if you’re visiting Warminster for a few days. I just stayed here for a week and would do so again. As someone who grew up in Warminster but has lived in the US for the last 30 years, I thought I would share a few observations for the benefit of anyone visiting from abroad and used to US hotel chain norms: The room I stayed in had a 7ft long built-in desk with plenty of electrical outlets (each with a 2.4A USB A and 3.0A USB C outlet for charging small devices). The TV was small and older, but adequate for basic Freeview channels. It had an HDMI connector but was probably just 720p. Plenty of closet space and hangers. No luggage rack, no fridge or microwave. No hairdryer or iron in the room but they’re available to borrow at the front desk. The room does have a tea kettle for hot water (no coffee maker – just instant coffee sachets, tea, creamers, etc.) No air conditioning (not a problem in February), but the window opens with a security cable that prevents anyone from gaining access. The room had a wall mounted electric radiator that’s silent, and the windows are double-glazed. When the window is closed, the room is absolutely silent for a great night’s sleep. The room came with a cot (US use of the word – i.e. a camp bed, not a baby crib) to the side of the queen bed. It was stocked with two bath towels and one hand towel. Notably for a US guest, no wash cloths (“flannel” in the UK) or floor towels are provided. Expect to do some contortions in the tub after showering to dry your feet before stepping out! On the subject of the tub, it was raised on a 6” plinth making it quite a step up and over to get in the tub – which could be a challenge for those with mobility issues. It had handrails, though. No tissues are provided (unlike US hotels). I suggest stopping by one of the supermarkets in town to stock up on essentials. I paid for the optional Wi-Fi and it was reliable (good enough for FaceTime), but I probably wouldn’t do so again as I had separately bought a prepaid Vodaphone data eSIM and got 4 bars of 4G with 120 mpbs down / 25 mbps up. Next time I would just use the eSIM in hotspot mode for my laptop. No digital keycard here. You’ll get a Yale key on a plastic key fob that’s about the size of a credit card (2-3 cards thick). Cumbersome to carry around but impossible to lose, so it gets the job done! Overall, it was a great experience from the front-desk welcome to the (on-request) housekeeping, and I would certainly stay here again."

"Went on a recommendation for Sunday lunch. Great choice on the menu and we all had the roast beef which was accompanied by huge amounts of vegetables and superb Yorkshire puddings. Needless to say there were empty plates and full stomachs. Excellent service with extremely friendly and efficient staff. The location and atmosphere of a traditional English pub was the icing on a very delicious cake !"
