"This trip to Dali, I gave myself a reason to 'live amidst the scenery.' So I chose the Zhongli Qianxun Courtyard Hotel (Dali Ancient City South Gate Branch) – and the result was even better than expected: it's not one of those B&Bs that 'looks good in photos but is just ordinary to stay in,' but rather a place where every detail, from day to night, from the courtyard to the rooms, makes you want to slow down. 🏯 Courtyard: The gentle charm of the ancient city at a glance The hotel features a typical Chinese quadrangle courtyard structure, with grey tiles, wooden corridors, and carved windows. Walking along the verandas, you can't help but slow your pace. During the day, the light falls on the wood, casting a warm glow; looking down from above, the courtyard is enclosed in a quiet embrace, almost like switching from 'travel rush mode' to 'living mode.' Even more surprising – you can see the outline of the mountains in the distance. As dusk falls, the sky gradually turns blue-grey, and the mountain ridges appear like silhouettes. In that moment, you suddenly understand: the beauty of Dali isn't about hustle and bustle, it's about tranquility. 🐟 Waterside Fish Pond: Koi + Lotus Leaves + Reflections, truly photo-worthy The pond in the center of the courtyard is a huge bonus: lotus leaves float on the water, koi swim to and fro, and the water acts like a mirror, reflecting the eaves, lanterns, and verandas. My favorite way to shoot is with a low camera angle near the water – the reflections are absolutely stunning, especially after the lights come on at night, it's as if another world appears in the water. 🏮 Nighttime Ambiance: When the lights come on, the courtyard 'glows' At night, as the lanterns light up one by one, the entire atmosphere of the space completely transforms: During the day, it's elegant; at night, it's gentle with a touch of luxury. Sitting by the courtyard, listening to the sound of water, and watching the reflections, time seems to slow down immensely – that feeling of 'truly starting to relax on a trip' happens in this very moment. 🎁 Welcome Perks: Free afternoon tea + Free traditional costume experience (so much fun) Two additional 'enjoy-upon-check-in' perks make me want to recommend this place even more: 🍵 Free Afternoon Tea for Two (by the pond/waterside) Available once during your stay, from 13:30 to 18:00. Sipping tea by the water is perfect for slowly letting go of the day's fatigue. 👘 Free Traditional Costume Experience: Full range of ancient/ethnic attire There’s a whole rack of clothes to choose from, enough to make your head spin. If you love taking photos, this experience is truly fantastic – shooting amidst the wooden corridors, carved doors and windows, and the lantern-lit night creates an incredible atmosphere. 🛏 Room Experience: Warm wooden space, comfortable stay The rooms are predominantly wood-toned, with warm lighting, making them very relaxing to be in. The bedding is clean, and the space feels unconfined. The worst part of traveling is when 'the outside is beautiful, but the room is hard to sleep in,' but that's not the case here. 🚿 I'm also satisfied with the bathroom: it’s generally clean and comfortable, the ceramic basin sink has a great texture, and the shower area is spacious enough, ensuring a worry-free stay."

"We were a couple on a seven-day trip to Yunnan and stayed here for two consecutive nights. We booked a suite for both nights, and the hotel even upgraded our room type. 'Yunqi' was by far the most satisfying hotel/B&B of our entire trip. First off, the environment is incredible – booking this location was definitely all about that sea view. The breakfast was very plentiful, and the rice noodles were delicious. The matcha cheesecake for afternoon tea was quite good 👍. The goodnight sweet soup was surprisingly not sweet yet still delicious; 'not sweet' is the highest compliment my Cantonese palate can give to a dessert! 🫢 Finally, I have to commend the service from all the staff! This is a hotel I'll be raving about on my social media. Absolutely delighted!"

"Excellent service provided! Hotel arranged for driver to pick us from train station. The driver is responsible and waited for us. Everything was smooth and we arrived in hotel with Hi-tea prepared for us! Both the high-tea and breakfast were very delicious! Room was extremely clean and big. It looks exactly as their photo shown. We were very touched and grateful for their help extended to us when my husband was sick and required immediate medical treatment. We called them early morning and within 15 mins, they arranged transport to bring us to the nearby hospital and the boss visited us with flower and fruits. Very nice gesture from the warm staff in this hotel. All the staff were very helpful and patient. They attended to our request immediately. Superb service from them. I highly recommend this hotel and I will be back to this same hotel in my next visit to Dali."

"This newly renovated hotel, located right by Erhai Lake, offers a tranquil yet bustling atmosphere, making it convenient for dining and shopping. The amenities are brand new, and the smart voice control system, which controls curtains, music, and the bathroom, offers great convenience. The rooms are uniquely decorated, and the layout is striking. The hotel's beautiful sixth floor boasts a bar, observation deck, and lounge, offering panoramic views of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake. It's also convenient for watching the sunrise and sunset. The owner was warm and welcoming, accommodating all our requests with patience and attentive service, making us feel right at home. I'll definitely stay here again when I visit Dali again."

"The front desk service was exceptionally thoughtful, with warm and attentive staff. Check-in was swift, and any issues were resolved promptly. They truly catered to our needs, making us feel cozy and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, the ambiance was great, and the rooms were well-lit. Rooms came equipped with a desk and a small armchair, and bathrooms featured a convenient wet/dry separation in the shower area. The hotel's location is superb, offering easy access to transportation and numerous dining options. It's also very close to the old town. The afternoon tea was delightful, and breakfast was delicious, plus they offered complimentary coffee. Highly recommended!"

"The room was spotless. The location is excellent, just a few hundred meters across from the Dali Ancient City Bus Station, making it incredibly convenient for transport. The host is incredibly friendly. They even provide free snacks and water at the reception, which is a great perk for travelers – a real lifesaver when you miss a meal and need a quick energy boost, haha! There's also a small swimming pool on the ground floor. The owner mentioned they change the water daily, and it looked very clean; the kids really enjoyed playing there. I must give a special shout-out to the owner! We were rushing to catch our Erhai Lake tour bus the next morning, and the owner actually gave us a ride to the station. After we got on the bus, I realized I had forgotten my laundry on the rooftop. To my surprise, the owner even offered to mail it to my home free of charge! They are truly beyond amazing!"

"The location is incredibly quiet with great views. Right outside, there's an ecological corridor, and from the comfort of your bed, you can see Erhai Lake and the red metasequoias. The room's decor and amenities are excellent; it's not one of those places that looks good in photos but disappoints up close. The hotel's dinner was tasty and convenient. However, breakfast was exactly the same every day for the four days I stayed, which got a bit repetitive. Also, the pillows weren't very comfortable. The parking lot isn't far from the B&B, but it's a rocky and dirt road, making it very difficult to push luggage. Upon arrival, there was a golf cart to pick us up from the parking lot. At checkout, they didn't offer a ride; they just said to wait at the entrance and someone would come, but after waiting a while, no one showed up. I specifically walked back to the front desk and saw the golf cart there, but no staff – maybe 8:30 AM was a bit too early. If you're in a hurry or have heavy luggage, it's best to let the front desk know in advance. I couldn't wait any longer as I had a flight to catch, so I ended up carrying my luggage all the way to the parking lot. 😂"

"This was hands down the most comfortable and pleasant hotel we stayed at during our Yunnan trip, and our child absolutely loved it. The rooms and facilities were all brand new and spotless. With views of Erhai Lake, you could easily spend an entire day just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Afternoon tea and breakfast were also provided.
