Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort and Spa

I stayed here with a friend November 8th-11th and had the most amazing experience. August, Cesar, and the gal that works the bar in the morning were unbelievable human beings and made this trip so memorable (the rest of the staff is lovely as well). I would highly recommend, and I can't wait to go back again!

Kimpton recently took over the Grand Roatan and has been redoing rooms etc. The hotel is in an Amazing location, right on West Bay beach with an expansive waterfront at the end of that part of Roatan. We walked the beach every morning. The water is beautiful and you can snorkel right off the beach (the boat trips come here and anchor out to do so). This is the best place to stay on the island. The pool is huge, with chairs in it (a touch I love). Many lounge chairs at the pool and at 2 areas on the extensive beach. Plenty of umbrellas for shade.There is also a hot tub, which I used daily after the sun went down. We toured the spa which is a full service spa (although did not use it as preferred to be outdoors). FYI, the beach had eroded from the rains but this changes seasonally. The staff is very attentive and helpful. They will go out of their way to help you. August, at pool greeted us daily with a smile, towels and was so warm and welcoming. Josh at the front desk, helping with the luggage also deserves a shout out. The other staff was equally as nice. The Concierge, Lea was so helpful, giving us great recommendations and helping us find a boat for snorkeling. The hotel is lovely, has a number of restaurants, a lovely buffet breakfast, upscale restaurant for dinner (Alera), a casual restaurant, Sea Cat, a full bar, Vos. Our beachfront room in the main building had a nice balcony. When it rained it on us, they came with towels immediately and then upgraded us to a huge corner suite. We did not even ask for it but they wanted us to move rooms. There is a happy hour from 5-6 pm every night with free drinks (this is a standard Kimpton thing around the world), and is nice as you can meet other guests and unwind. The view from the Kimpton hotel of the sunset is wonderful (when there was a sunset) and we would watch it from the patio or our balcony. A really lovely place to stay in Roatan.

The hotel staff is cannot do enough for you. The grounds and rooms are impeccable. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back. The snorkeling directly from the beach was amazing and better than any snorkeling excursion I have taken.

The entire week we were welcomed with paint guns, saws, drilling and hammering. Directly above us. Sun up to beyond sun down. Paid a hefty price to relax but wasn’t allowed. Service by pool started off strong then went non existent. Bills were consistently wrong and were charged double in some instances. The pool had a black algae or mold throughout; mainly near the swim up bar. Don’t wait for service there. It will probably not arrive. I felt safe with the armed guards on the resort and beach. Some people were amazing, others, played you like a fiddle. Good luck.

This was our 3rd trip to Roatan and first stay at the Kimpton. It's a strikingly beautiful resort, has a wonderful staff and is on the best part of the best beach in Roatan. The snorkeling right off the beach is second to none - the reef is right there for you to visit multiple times a day. A shout out to pool concierge August - he was very knowledgeable and kept us laughing. The resort's beef tacos were the tastiest I ever had. All their food and drinks are good, though we also like to visit other local restaurants in West Bay and West End. We highly recommend dining at Luna Muna at the Ibigari Resort- wow atmosphere. We stayed in a bungalow up on the hill and thought it was lovely and spacious - the outdoor shower was a bonus. We were hesitant to visit during "rainy season" but we had enough good weather days to enjoy time on the beach. We normally do not book spa treatments but we heard they were fabulous. My only complaint is the resort's Caribe Grackle birds are non-vocal and I missed their tropical "song" in the background - perhaps relocate them and bring in a new pair ;-)

Stayed in beachfront suite it was beautiful. Customer service was great all the way around. Only thing i would improve on is vegetarian options for breakfast. Concierge and front desk were great! My driver Danny was amazing. Room was very clean
