Very clean. Recently updated with a kitchenette and large refrigerator, along with a toaster oven and all of the utensils you may need (including a wine bottle opener). Decor is very cute with a woodsy/bear theme. Beautiful views from the room towards the lake. Would definitely go back again!!

Our family vacationed in Rangley in the lates 60's until 1977 and mostly at the Town and Lake Motel. My last trip there with my parents and sister was 1977. We always stayed in the cabins and went back because they were clean and the owners always made us feel welcome. So this past week I went with my wife and we stayed in a motel unit, and after 47 years since my last visit this was going to be a mini vacation. Another generation of the family runs the establishment and the service was as great as I remember from many years ago. The motel room, didn't feel like a motel room but rather a guest room at a friends (or families) residence. The room decor was tastefully Maine themed, from the bed comforters to the dishware in the kitchenette to the framed prints on the wall. A large micro wave oven, a large stove top in the counter, a large toaster oven and a Keurig coffee maker, plus much more was essentially everything you needed to be comfortable. The room had patio doors leading to a deck that offered a great view of the lake for relaxing in a chair enjoying morning coffee or an evening beverage. I am glad I took a trip back in time to when I was younger and enjoyed the accommodations and the little town. I am already planning on going back next year and spending more time at the Town and Lake, and perhaps convince my son and his family to join us.

Friendly owner of an ideally located lake front motel in Rangeley, Maine. Our updated and well stocked room was perfect for our Memorial weekend vacation. Sliders lead to the back deck where you can enjoy the lake. We will return! Thank you!

Joe and Cheryl were born with hearts of gold to still be in the hospitality business for over 40 years. Raising their family, and now 6 grandchildren in Rangeley has proven they are growing their angel wings too. This motel, built in 1954 by Joe's father, is a step back in time. The family cabins on Rangeley Lake make this a very special place to stay. Rustic and simple, these cabins offer the basics in a setting so lovely you win't want to leave. John is the on site construction go-to guy, and he is methodically renovating one room, one cabin at a time to upgrade the motel with modern kitchens, bathrooms, and furnishings, along with A/C for next summer. But if you like the old fashioned cabin feel, hopefully they will leave one to rent that will always be a tribute to his father who has this vision 70 years ago to provide a priceless setting on Rangeley Lake for everyone to enjoy. We give everyone 5 stars for effort and kindness too! Thank you to all for making cur stay in Rangeley so memorable. We will be back next year! Debbie and Gene, Philadelphia

This was a great choice while visiting the Rangeley area! The owners were so friendly and accommodating! The room was recently refreshed and well appointed, with a smart utilization of space so all our recreational equipment was easily stored. The kitchenette was stocked with all the basics, a great range top , microwave, toaster oven and Keurig. The TV was HUGE! Our 18 foot Boston Whaler was made welcome and there is a boat launch and dock for guests. Best of all was the fabulous view of the lake, just steps away, and the grandkids loved the little playground. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

No Internet... I was told by the motel manager that nearby lake conditions sometimes interfered with their Motel Internet.  Furthermore, he was no "IT expert" and there was nothing to be done about the No Internet situation. Apparently, the digital TV suffered from the same problerm as the screen would lock up every 30-45 seconds. Digital Dish?  Regardless, less than an hour after paying the motel's overnight fee of $196.00, which advertised Free WIFI, was not to be. I had been able to download one email at molasses speed before Town & Lake Motel’s WIFI signal gave up altogether. Also to make matters worse there was no desk nor desk chair (or easy chair for that matter) in the room. One would think that's why there's no need for a laptop.  But, there was a plastic half-split plastic table which, after a difficult assembly, I was eventually able to make use of.  It folded out to the full width of 4' feet and required adjusting the legs to rest their laptop on. The chair provided was a metal folding chair. Please see the accompanying PHOTOS as I know this doesn't make much sense. The room was rather tight once the table and chair were put up.   Otherwise, the motel room had a nice ambiance what with the lake there, and it had a nice woodsy Maine theme decoratively. The beds were “plush” as in one would sink into them, which was fine with me. The mattresses on our two beds certainly aren’t what one would call hard or firm.  This Town & Lake Motel seemed fine if one is satisfied lounging on the beds only. The awkward self-assembly table and folding chair, plus the lack of adequate space combined with No Internet for the evening, and morning, meant future hotels-motel bookings, would wait until the next hotel  24 hours later. The digital issues with the TV were certainly annoying.  Yet as New England October leaf hunters (visiting from Minnesota) we are a taken-advantage group that is easy pickings during leaf season. A motel room typically at $129.00 instead is seasonally jacked up to over $190.00. And we leaf hunters have few options. Internet is very much needed for your future stays, meaning finding locations at a price under $300.00. Smartphones are tough with researching hotels on Trip Advisor and finding the best future stay, booking over it, etc. Without that access to promised (paid for) Internet, such as at Rangeley's Town and Lake Motel, is pure bait and switch.

For $250 a night, you can get an old cabin with a noisy heater in the floor of the living room, with few working light bulbs, no paper towels, no toilet paper and not very well cleaned. We left after one night.
