We don't always look for the most luxurious hotel when traveling. Often, it's if the place has charm, character, or a story to tell, and Vermont Grand View Farm and Bed & Breakfast ticked all the boxes. It's off the beaten track (the instructions are very in-depth as people risk losing cell phone reception en route), it has a rustic 19th-century annex where you stay in high, original beds, and there's a llama that helps watch over the herd of Gotland sheep. The hosts are lovely and generous with their time and are happy to take you out to meet the sheep and llama or talk about their farm's operations. The accommodations are a good size for a family of four or a couple of couples, with Wi-Fi access, a small kitchen area, and plenty of books and old videos to get nostalgic over. If you want a farm stay with a difference, this is the best place to stay in Vermont.
