Booked Christmas Day at Hurlston Hall as a treat for Family visit from USA. Tickets were expensive but believed it would be worth it as the event advertised sounded perfect. Unfortunately, this was not the case Arrived at 12 45 ready for 1pm start, venue looked lovely and there seemed to be plenty of staff. We were told we needed to order drinks at the bar, it was clear the staff were all very inexperienced as it took a long time to be served and we even had to guide some on what drinks to select from the shelf. We guessed there must be some kind of problem as we were left waiting a long time before food began to be served. Starter's arrived at 2.20 and these were delivered to our table of 11 across a 20min period; some had finished their starters before others had been served. We then waited another hours before the main course was served, 30mims after the advertised end time of the event! Again meals were served to the table haphazardly, 7 of us received meals: all Turkey Christmas Dinner, a bowl of 6 roast potatoes and a bowl of half mash half carrot & turnip for 11 people! 4 of us left waiting, including 2 children. After 25mims with the rest of the table pretty much finished we found someone to ask whi brought over meals; then the wrong meal S 1 was vegetarian. We gave up at this point and chose to leave, 4 of us without eating. There was no communication, acknowledgement, apology offered on the day, merely just told to put complaint on an email. Disgraceful So what should have been a fabulous Christmas day with the family, one we've waited 6years for was utterly ruined and ALOT of money wasted. A generic, template response has been received from my email complaint with an unsatisfactory offer of less than 30%compensation- totally unacceptable. DO NOT BOOK CHOOSE THIS VENUE FOR ANY OF YOUR CELEBRATIONS.
