Local talk indicated that The Gordon Arms is under new ownership and aiming to update in all aspects. As it is now our nearest local restaurant, we booked in. The reception was warm and friendly. The choice of tables was very good, all being nicely laid on polished old wood tops with quality glassware and cutlery. The menu was varied (with good choices for Veggies), several starters, 4/5 meat entrées and 2 more chef's specials, my wife selected the grilled Sea Bream with a delicious sauce. I chose the Duck Breast with a Mexican style sauce (mildly spiced to my order) and served rare. The vegetables were well presented individually. A good range of desserts was available and we picked a local ice cream and sorbet from Biggar which proved a lovely end to a very good meal. The wine list is quite extensive and with several choices by the glass. The service was attentive, efficient, and friendly. All very good value for a modest cost. The Car Park is easily manageable for old folk. I booked a repeat visit with no hesitation: The GA has taken a big step forward for food.
