KUZUKO LODGE The lodge used to be part of Addo Elephant Park however; the lodge is now a privately owned game reserve that concentrates on conservation on wildlife and land regeneration. The resort in our opinion, has air of opulence that is further enhanced by exceptionally trained staff that to look after your needs. Views of landscape from the the main lodge are truly magnificent. LOCATION Kuzuko Lodge located in Somerset East and it is about 2.1/2 hours drive north of Port Elizabeth. However; please be mindful that approximately 30 miles of your drive will be on uneven dirt track road and therefore it is advisable that you have a suitable vehicle for the road surface. This was probably our only negative experience in reaching and staying at the lodge. If you’re planning on visiting this lodge then please bring warm jackets as it gets pretty windy whilst on game drives. RECEPTION Your vehicle will need to be parked at the first reception area for the duration of your stay. Once checked-in, arrangements will be made for you and your luggage to be transported to the main lodge building, which is located about 10 minutes drive from the first reception area. On our arrival at the main lodge, we were warmly welcomed by a member of the team and our luggage taken to our room whilst we relaxed over a drink. CHALETS Our Chalet was clean, spacious and well appointed with panoramic views through large windows and balcony. Our room was cleaned daily with evening turndown service, which was nice to comeback to the room, after our evening meal. FOOD & BEVERAGES Knowing that we were heading to a remote area, our expectation of food and beverages were realistic however; our expectations were surpassed by the quality and range of food on offer. All our meals were tasty, well presented and served by well trained waiting staff. Being a vegetarian in South Africa has its challenges but here, there were choices on offer in addition to an option of making reasonable request for alternative meal that were not listed on the day’s menu. The bar is well stocked with local and international beers and spirits. There is also good choice of wine at reasonable cost on offering. Those who prefer soft drinks will not be disappointed with the range on offer. GAME DRIVES Two game drives are on offer on daily basis that depart from the main reception area of the lodge. The morning game drive departs at 5:00am with the afternoon drive departing at 4:30pm. Both game drives are 3.1/2 hours long, which seemed to past by very quickly. The vehicle used by rangers are very robust and sturdy off-road vehicles to combat the uneven and rugged terrain. We were pleasantly surprised how close we got to Lions, Chetahs, Rhinos, Buffalos etc. Every game drive with our Ranger, Shaun was a new adventure and great fun. CONCLUSION We throughly enjoyed our fews day at Kuzuko Lodge and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone considering a bit of luxury coupled with game driv
